Is Fox News Un-American?

“By appearing on Fox, reporters validate its propaganda values and help to undermine the role of legitimate news organizations,” Weisberg wrote in an Oct. 17 Newsweek column, “Why Fox News Is Un-American.” “Respectable journalists — I'm talking to you, Mara Liasson — should stop appearing on its programs.”

What I find exceptionally funny si the following....

"to reconsider her regular appearances on Fox News because of what they perceived as the network’s political bias, two sources familiar with the effort said."

To me that sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. NPR has been biased toward the left for YEARS. For instance why on GODS "GREEN" EARTH will none of the mainstream media focus one minute of air time on the CLIMATEGATE saga? FOX is all over it and there hasn't been a single utterance from NBC, CBS, ABC or even CNN. If that isn't an appearance of bias then I am blind deaf and mute. The least they could do is say something to attempt to nullify the the so called hacking of the server and the data that has been released.

Because its Conservative Bu__Sh__ but you already know that.

Conservatives denigrate NPR as Liberal only because they won't repeat obvious partisan BU__SH__. They don't repeat Left Wing propaganda either; that should make you happy.

Why Fox news is un-American is simply this: It is based on the British sysem of news.

Rupert Murdoch, Australian born and naturalized American citizen (done only to satisfy legal requirements for media ownership here), was educated by the British, admires most British ways, and models his News empire, including FOX broadcasting, after the British press and tabloids.

And for further elucidation on what it means to be a British news organization, here are some quotes I gleaned from a fantastic book written by an American Journalist who moved to London: The Anglo Files by Sarah Lyall.

"...(regular) aspects of the British press: The opinion pieces masquerading as straight news; the obsession with stars, sex, diets, and gossip; the way the papers' biases show so nakedly...

"British journalists believe that newspapers are by nature biased, and that it is better to say so up front than to disingenuously affect neutrality, which is what they think American papers do. 'If you have five different arguments from five different papers, you get to come to your own truth.'

"'When I published those stories, they were not lies,' declared Kelvin Mackenzie, who edited the Sun in the 1980s. 'They were great stories that later turned out to be untrue.'

Americans, believing in The Free Press (which no longer exists) and believing in journalism as a respected profession (the opposite of the Brits), actually believe too much of what they read in the papers and (unfortunately) what they see on FOX news. Americans, unlike the British, have not learned to tell the difference between fact and opinion and are unable or unwilling to look for the kernel of truth in a pack of sensational lies.

None of the major news outlets are un-American.

They simply have a different view of how America should be.

Don't worry so much about it.

There are bigger things to worry about than who says what on the boob tube.

There is a reason it's called that you know...."Boob Tube"
