Raw Food

I have some really wonderful books on this subject if anyone is interested..Jennifer made the best bread I have ever tasted - and we made the most delicious sandwiches! (plus a raw smoothie ..and topped it off with some raw sweets!) What a treat!! I'm going home to Mississippi on Wednesday and I'm wondering if i can duplicate any of these recipes!..Jane

janefrances, you have to tell us about the raw smoothie and what it was made of. My grand-daughter had a lot of smoothies when she lived in Tucson, Arizona with her aunt. She promised to make me one, but it hasn't happened yet. : (( Will have to remind her. I hope that you have a safe trip home to Mississippi. Did you read anything while you were away, besides the books on raw food?

The raw smoothie is made from home-made almond milk (very, very good) and any fruit that is on hand - fresh or frozen..plus stevia if it not sweet enough - just blend it and enjoy!...it's the almond milk that makes it so good!

Thank you so much for the smoothie recipe. Almond Milk? Is that milk with almond flavouring in it? I really want to try making a smoothie as my mouth is already watering.

The almond milk sounds yummy. I usually make mine with either a little yogurt, fresh fruit and crushed ice, or sometimes with just a little regular milk with vanilla in it, the fruit and ice. Just pop it all in a blender and give it a whir1 LOl! Delicious anyway you make them...

Almond milk is homemade! Soak almonds over night - remove brown hulls the next morning - grind nuts in heavy duty blender - strain through cheese cloth or any bag you make and the juice is almond milk! Jennifer saves the pulp and uses it to make her "live bread (which is delicious) I watched her make it yesterday - She takes the pulp, cuts up some peeled carrots, a red or yellow pepper - adds olives = sun dried tomatoes - or anything else that looks good - then she grinds it all together *adds sea salt" and spreads it out on teflon sheets and dehydrates it for about 4 hours - then turns it over for another few hours - she scores the "dough" into 9 squares and when it is done, it's wonderful! It makes the best sandwiches. I'm going to "try" this at home - we'll see! I leave for home today and back to using the library or the GP station for wi-fi!

sounds interesting.... but a lot of work... does she use a dehydrator to dry it or just put it in an oven???

I make my own bread sometimes but use a breadmaker with some great whole grain recipes... easy and delicious!

I make my own bread too some times. I love the way it smells when it's baking. Right now i am getting ready to make the furry grandkids some dog biscuits. I even have a bone shaped cookie cutter.
