Best FREE online photo editor?

Until now I've had to fire up my old PC, open up the pics on my dig cam, crop and resize them, dump them on a flash drive and than email them from my laptop (which I'm normally using). Whew. I'd prefer to just open the pics on my LT, tweak them for emailing and be done. Looking for recommendations for best free online photo editor to serve my basic needs. Thanks.

cam,

have you heard of "Gimp"

Google it and see if it fits your needs.

It's open source, and free. But it can be a little unintuitive at times.

That's definitely the right information.

The Gimp rivals Photoshop in features but is completely free.

There are others but Gimp is all y

I would recommend you get a card reader for your LT/camera, and download paint.net

it comes highly recommended.

If all you're doing is the basics like crop and rotate, and maybe want automatic color correction and red eye removal, try Picasa. view link It will search your computer for pictures and automatically catalog them. It even has face recognition.

Try Photofiltre... I've been using it for a couple years as my editing program. It has many of the same features as Photo Shop and is a free download. Another freebie online is Picnik. That is where I do my editing for posting on Flickr.

Gimp is not a "basic editor" either, and has a steep learning curve.

Does any of you who claim that such-and-such has "the same features as Photoshop" actually use Photoshop?

I guess my question is, why not just use your laptop instead of your desktop? Is there not a way on your laptop to open up the pix from your dig cam like you do on your desktop? If so, just move the process to the laptop rather than going through all the other.

So, basically, let's get more information about your setup before we figure out what good free online service you need, or what free photo program you could use on your laptop.

We need your OS, amount of RAM on the laptop, hard drive space, etc.

And, FWIW, Fotoflexer is the tool that Photobucket uses as their online editor. For the basics it's pretty good.

Sorry I failed to offer up more sys specs in my initial query.

Thanks for all the replies. I have PhotoShop on my PC and am quite proficient using it. I also have the full MS Office, etc on the PC. When opening the dig cam pics on the PC I have a number of places to tweak them.

Jason, on the LT I have XP, 256 RAM, 13 GB HD free (almost identical to my PC which has just a wee bit more RAM). None of the current software I have on the LT can manip images. Pics are viewable in Windows Picture Viewer....but can't do anything there. When I cable my cam to the LT it opens up the images but, unless I'm missing something, that's just allowing me to view them (I opt to delete or save where desired)...not change their size, etc. (BTW, I have a Flickr acct.)

I've only recently acquired the LT, used, and prefer not to load it with unnecessary software, etc. I use dial-up...which makes it even more important to have smaller file sizes.... so anything that speeds up the process is appreciated.

Hopefully the add'l info will be helpful in determining the best solution to my situation.
