Small Cabin in the Woods

The Tye River cabin, located in Skykomish, Washington, is everything eco friendly cottages should be – small, sweet, inspired by nature and built in harmony with it. This natural cabin design is surrounded by a forest with a river flowing through the site. Preserving the fragile river ecosystem became a top priority in this eco house design, while maintaining function and style. This small cabin encompasses just 600 sq. ft., but packs a big punch in this compact space. With a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom, all the necessities have been accounted for. As for style, organic finishes give the cabin a country-chic look with reclaimed old growth Douglas fir and a rustic poured-concrete fireplace warming up the home. Lots of large windows and glass doors open onto outdoor entertaining areas, inviting the outdoors in and adding yet another element of nature to this modern river front home. There are more pictures-bedrooms, outside fireplace with benches, and an evening picture with the interior lights on. Could not find a floor plan.

What do you think?

I like it! It looks efficient, green and open. In a beautiful setting, it would bring the outdoors in. Everything you need is there, and even some of the bells and whistles. No wasted space, but room for pretty, like the rug on the kitchen floor.

I like it too.

It is purdy, but them open doors will let in all kinds of critters flying and crawling, who share that very beautiful forest. I wonder how practical it would be to live in??hmmmm?

I really like it too. Bet it's expensive to build though. Nice fireplace and firewood box. Excellent kitchen. Do you have a link for the rest of the pictures?

I called my daughter over to the computer to see this one. She said to say it is beautiful.

I love how the whole thing opens up to outside. I love that it is in the woods so when those doors are all open, neighbors aren't sharing your joy.

Great find Horsey!

Who wouldn't like it, it probably cost a mint to build. It's very nice but think of the cost, first of the land and next of all the upscale finishes on it. This is a 'cottage' for somebody with money, not somebody with a budget. Just saying.

I wouldn't want to have those open doors without screens of some kind.

i like it. but one question, why would one want a huge range when its only 600 sq ft? you sure can't do much entertaining....

I think this is it. view link

It is called a 'retreat'. I don't think it is intended to be someone's main home. It says it is essentially a wooden tent on a platform that opens to the forest and river.
