buying american

when i was in germany this summer, i found most everything was made in germany. but when i got home i noticed, pretty much everything was made in china, or somewhere near there. i actually found it hard to find an american product.

so last week my dad came home from aldi, a german store, with a pillow. i informed him there is an immense problem with bed bugs from south america, and i inspected the pillow. and low and behold, it was made in the use, nj no less.

so i guess i have to go to a german store, to buy american products. and an american store to buy foreign ones.

life is weird.

HM, I really try to buy American! I needed several electrical relays for one of our older Corvettes. Went down to the local GM dealer and ordered the parts! Two wks later they arrived. In AC Delco boxes ( Ya American). I opened the box, and there was another box inside the Delco box, and the label said Made in China! The new parts were pure crap! The original Delco part had a nice picture on the top of it showing a picture of the relay contacts. The new one was a blank cover! As the new one weighted less than half of the original, I decided to open one of the new relays. The interior of the relay was very poorly made. After seeing that, I opened to older relay that I was going to replace, cleaned the relay contacts with a ladys emery board and we were back in service. The NEW replacements went in the trash bin. So much for buy American!

Cheers!

dream69, ya see, ya just cant buy american anymore. and now they are getting sneaky about it.

screwed, i said nj no less, cause we live in nj. it was not only made in usa, but local. what are the chances of that.

my daughter had to go to the kitchen aide website and order her kitchen aide mixer. if she bought it at walmart, it would be made in china, with plastic parts inside, that wear out and cant be replaced. same brand name, look the same, but not the same inside. you have to open the case to see the made in china marking. thats just being sneaky. like putting a chinese part in an american box.
