I, too, had read the list and shuddered to realize I'd only read one on the most notable 100 books listed. It was LOVE AND SUMMER by William Trevor. Will be more interested in our BOOKOHOLIC list of best and wost reads of 2009 to be compiled in Jan. 2010..

These lists just make my lip curl. LOL I mean, anybody, anybody...could make up a list, and in fact, there are ALWAYS many, many lists that come out, with the supposedly best and worst books in a certain time period. I say, bologna. Like rapa, I am more interested to see OUR lists when they come out. :D
Have to say I have not read any of the 10 best books on the New York List. Don't recognize hardly any of the titles. Wonder if I have missed anything? Don't think so.
What a list.They coudn't do any better than that.Boring!
I admit to having read a lot of the books on the NYTimes list that comes out in the Sunday paper, but that, I believe, is the ones that are tops in sales, and not necessarily the so called "best" as in "literature" that so many of these lists indicate... :x
Heck, I didn't even put them on my TRB list!!! I'm with Rapa as well - our lists are far more relevant to me!
2 of them did sound interesting to me... I love The Glass Castle so would be interested in Jeannette Walls novel... also A Gate at the Stairs sounded like it might be good...
maybe I'll give them a try... but I agree that our lists top my priority and I can't wait to find a few new ones recommended by our group :-)

Zero ..yes zero..did not read one book on that list. I would rather see our best and worst list because i have found some great books in our members' lists. I've never been disappointed.
None of them would make my list
