used to have a really small desktop tree. only me , so it did not matter, lost that tree a while ago, now i don't bother with any of it.
Artificials- 2 small, 1 "formal" (gold white and angels), 1 infomal (fun ornaments, lots of color) and a teeny prelit tree (lights only)
The most interesting tree I had was a year we moved on Dec 22. We put up our artificial tree and Nathan tied teenage mutant ninja turtles to it. I often wish I had a picture of it.
All artificial. Don't have to crawl under them to water them. Even comes pre-lit. Pull off the plastic wrap, haul it up the basement steps; set it up in the LR; plug-in, sit down and celebrate a job well done with a beer.
LOL I really agree - so much easier. I think if you have enough beer, you can talk yourself into thinking it's also prettier and better in every way.
Artificial! For years I had a small place and/or cats that loved to climb the tree and knock it over. So I had a *half* tree that hung on the wall. It was beautiful, and everyone thought it was neat.
Now I have a medium sized slim artificial one that is in the living room window. Gran-angel and I decorated it and decided it didn't have enough glitz, so we raided my jewlery box. Every last necklace, bracelet and yes even a couple sparkly watches are on the tree this year! One friend calls it my Timex tree because I put a sparkly watch around the angel on top. FUN!!!!!!!
What a neat idea, Bren! I know a woman who buys up old skirts at the thrift stores and makes unique Christmas tree skirts our of them! Sometimes she sews old constume jewelry on them or single earrings if she lost the other one to the pair. People can just be so creative and inventive!(I love it!)
Not sure if we always had blue spruce or fraser fir...guess I have to research that. I know we always had short needle trees that were like real needles when you stepped on them in bare or stocking feet! LOL Down south we actually had a Hemlock one year!
We have a small tabletop artificial fiber optic tree, the Bride puts more lights on it and ornaments with an Angel on top.
We get a Frasier fir every year. They are beautiful and smell so good. I agree, the water and needles is a pain. Hubby isn't ready to part with the real tree. We said when the kids were grown up we would go to artificial. Last one graduated high school this year. We had our tree up at Thanksgiving so our grandson could enjoy. Both he and my son in law were allergic to it. I think the artificial tree will be a reality very soon.
Artificial -- the trees here in Florida come from places like Michigan -- they're pretty dry by the time we get them! I miss the good old days when we cut down our own tree at the tree farm!
Deja vu alert!!!!
