A True American

Kerry will probably be called a racist for posting his links, but the question I have is "Why?"

.Perhaps because he doesn’t believe that a black person has the same brains he has?

Well, here is one of those black people that has a mature all-American brain. He is a leader who leads from the front, and shows the way.

Martin Luther King began had his Judas goats with the same face as he, the same beginnings as he, and the same prominence as he. A few silver coins can buy an opposing view with faces that resemble your own.
But close your eyes and listen. What do you hear? Hate is hate, and fear mongering is bipartisan, biracial, and pretty stupid.

And here's a little more info about this " True American ".

I hate the expression "A True American" - which implies that anyone who disagrees with a certain political bent is not a true American. That very premise is un-American.

From Charles' link:

" After West's resignation was brought to public attention the next Fall, he received over two thousand letters and e-mails from the American public offering him moral support. In addition, a letter was drafted to the secretary of the Army, its signatories being ninety-five members of Congress in West's support. Even a prominent critic of the Abu Graib affair, Sen. John W. Warner of Virginia, wrote a letter to his constituents in support of West's honorable intentions during the controversial incident.

In January 2004, the conservative Frontpage Magazine named West its Man of the Year.[1]

LTC West is a true Americn who was railroaded by the PC weenies who put their own political standing above truth and justice. They are doing the same thing to the three Seals.

He broke the law, he should pay the price. Unless, of course, Kerry thinks there should be two sets of rules.

LTC West sounds credible enough to me.

I would never put myself into a position to question what a soldier might have to do during a war.

That is the job of the military justice system. They saw fit to allow him to resign rather than have him put in Ft. Leavenworth

Naturally.

"A True American " doesn't infer anything but recognition of an individual.

" which implies that anyone who disagrees with a certain political bent is not a true American. "
Mshadow
LTC West supports defending the nation and supporting yourself individually. What are you saying that he disagrees with?

" That very premise is un-American. " Mshadow
That is your premise, not mine nor LTC West's.

I would have a little more faith that the retired officer was entering politics to try to lead and represent the people if he were running as an independant. From what I've been seeing, few Republicans have the courage to vote anything but a party line or be willing to sit down at the work table, identify other congressmen and senators as colleagues rather than the opposition, and constructively try to address problems. I agree with much of what he has said about the need for a change in our elected officials, but unless lobbyists are banned from Washington and all of the politician's offices, nothing will change. Banning corporate campaign contributions would be a good start, but the politicos will never be willing to give up that paycheck. I also have a problem with people that have free healthcare for life taking a stand opposing any change in the healthcare system the rest of us have to live with. I guess we'll see what the Floridians think about him.

Liberals just love to support the enemy and lambaste the troops, at every opportunity.

If you close your eyes and plug your ears, you can imagine anything you want. What "hate and rear-mongering" are you talking about? LTC West just says we should defend the nation and support ourselves individually. How can you object to that?

"West, who at the time was just short of having 20 years of service, was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and was in danger of receiving an 11 year prison sentence, dishonorable discharge and losing his retirement benefits. West was processed through an Article 32 hearing in November 2003, where he admitted wrongdoing, was fined $5,000 over two months for misconduct and assault. He then submitted his resignation, and was allowed to retire with full benefits in the summer of 2004"

Merli....looks like he was processed and penalized as seen appropriate by a military court. He paid the price.
