It is cold here in Colorado. It was -11 below last night. I heat my house with propane and I have a wood stove. I use the wood stove to save on the propane. I get the wood from the national forest for 15 dollars a cord. Usual price for a cord is between 120 and 150 dollars.
It's not too bad here in L.A., just in the low 60s. We use a little space heater in whatever room we are in (the cat loves it!). Paying for it? That's a challenge.
It is cool in AZ now - especially overnight. Just sweater weather during the day.
It is nice on the Pacific Coast. Its long sleeve weather but the sun is out. I try not to use the central air heater but put on extra clothing and blankets if your cold.
We live in Florida - so winters aren't an issue. During the summer the a/c is on 24/7 for several months. We use ceiling fans to help circulate the air.
We used to live in northern Wisconsin - there we actually had electric heat. Even at -40 temps, our electric bill was rarely over $100/month. I also used 3M plastic sheeting over our windows which really kept out drafts.

I'm almost embarrassed to tell you that it's in the 60's in L.A. and yes, I do have my heat on. Paying for it is easy. My gas bill is never more than $25. My bigger challenge is paying for the air conditioning bill in the summer time. I had to go on budget billing with the electric company so I pay $80 every month. Once a year, I either owe them a small amount or they owe me a small amount. I keep careful watch on where I'm at with it and add additional dollars if I need to. Do they have anything like that where all of you live so that you don't get hit with huge bills in the winter time?
It's really starting to get very cold up here in the Pacific Northwest. We heat soley with the lopi wood stove and this year instead of buying wood we got the pressed logs. It's so much better the heat is more even less mess and work,it only took me a few years to figure this one out! Love the cold weather, kills all the bugs and slugs and am just looking foreward to the snows and holidays.
I use the budget billing also. That way we basically know what our electric bill is going to be each month.

i would have cut wood today, but it snowed over 4 inches, heavy wet snow. gave up on any work outside.
we have basically oil heat, supplemented with the woodstove. but i use the woodstove to cook as well, so the stove never goes on. i guess it helps. it works good to dry clothes toooo.
our electric bill is an easy $200.00 a month, all year round.
