Kindred In Death

NOTE: POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN REPLY
I just finished J D Robb's Kindred In Death.

Barb, you said it was disturbing to you. My thoughts in first reply.

The murders as described were definitely disturbing. It’s frightening to think that there are actually people on this planet who are like this killer. No scruples, no conscience, no remorse but rather delight in causing others pain. And that there are parents who will use there children for their own purposes. Maybe not to the extent that his father did - but to fulfill their own goals whether to the detriment of the child or not. Can we say “stage parents” everyone?

As for keeping me awake, this one didn’t bother me as much as the book about the cloning of children. That one really, really creeped me out even tho’ it might not be as realistic - yet.

Once again, the byplay between Eve & Rourke, Peabody’s asides, and Eve’s discomfort with social events serve to lighten the mood. The circle of characters in this series just adds so much & makes me want to be part of that circle. And Summerset…..well, we just have to love that Eve/Summerset banter. Yet there is the underlying respect each has for the other.

Yup, another winner from J D Robb. I’m reading the novella by her in The Lost, a collection with her & 3 other authors. She puts these out about once a year. It’s only about 100 pgs but I’ll take everything I can get in this series!

A 95 - that’s my rating!!!!

I have to say that JD Robb is very talented, gee, ya think? LOL What I mean is that even though the book disturbed me so much, I still also liked and appreciated it so much. I think that the theme of it, the killing, especially, are just something that is and always has been, a panic button kind of response with me....

I agree with you on all the positives you mentioned. :) And I love the relationship between Dallas and Summerset, and also that Robb refreshes us on history, cause I know I sure forget stuff...

Love, love, love her books! I love the relationships Dallas has with everyone - especially Summerset. I really like how each book picks up where the last one left off, and that time has progressed slowly throughout the series, so you can see how Dallas is growing and working through her personal demons in a realistic timeframe.

That's a good point, ko, about time passing slowly and allowing us to see Dallas' growth!
