Al Gore cancels lecture in Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN -- Climate campaigner Al Gore has canceled a lecture he was supposed to deliver in Copenhagen.

The former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner had been scheduled to speak to more than 3,000 people at a Dec. 16 event hosted by the Berlingske Tidende newspaper group.

The group says Gore canceled the lecture Thursday, citing unforeseen changes in his schedule.

I understand that all that was in the movie for which he received praise and the Nobel was not exactly accurate or some parts might have been pure fabrication. It did get people aware, though, so perhaps the "means justified the end" here. Not sure how far from the truth he went. I think these revelations (to some, anyway) might have had a lot to do with his canceling the speech. It could have been embarrassing at the very least.

I wonder how many others will cancel given the truth about their deception is becoming common knowledge. Will there ever be an apology from any of the liars who terrorized people with fear?

A deal in Copenhagen will require the United States to commit billions of dollars to help developing nations deal with the severe storms, droughts, and other destructive impacts of global warming.

On Friday, the White House promised to pay “its fair share” of the $10 billion annual payment to poorer countries.

That could be a tough sell domestically, given the country’s’ high unemployment numbers, mounting debt, and deep economic recession.

“I’m surprised the president would commit our nation to billions in new and long-term spending, particularly in a year that has seen our government rack up a record deficit, and before our economy is back on track,” said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, (R-Alaska), the highest ranking Republican member on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee.
