Holiday Trivia #1

Lyn & I decided that with the approaching holiday season, we're going to have a daily "trivia" post dealing with the holidays - just for fun (hopefully)! So here's the topic for today........

I'm all finished! Yes, that's right! I purchased my last gift during my lunch hour today.

So...have you completed your gift purchases yet? Are you well on your way to being finished? Or, are you a procrastinator (intentional or otherwise) that waits until the last minute?

Just two more! Maybe three! Well...you just never know with me. No I don't wait til the last minute as I need to mail most everything. I even ordered a couple of gifts online this year and had them shipped direct, which I would prefer not to do (I still like to wrap my gifts), but time was a factor in that the recipients are traveling over the holidays and I wanted them delivered before they left the country.

I have only one more to buy for my grandson. I might have to order it but I am going to look one more place here in Tucson before I do. Everyone else is done, except for stocking stuffers.

Not being Christian, Christmas is not my holiday. But I do buy a few gifts -- for the animal companions of my closest friends. That's done.

Most of mine is done, what little there is going to be this year.

Ahh, I always used to purchase gifts throughout the year and was done long before Xmas. It was mostly good as I hate crowds and it was easier on the finances, but there would be the occasional misplaced/forgotten present. I really enjoyed finding special gifts, however, things have changed; I've only purchased 2 presents so far and don't really know if I'll be able to get much else. I'm just hating to cry poor and give nothing; though I know family would understand, I'd feel really bad. I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter if you have a good-paying, full-time job with great benefits and a modest 401k. If you get too sick to go back to your job, the insurance eventually ends and the 401k follows. Bah humbug!

You're so right, catt....it's a fear that a lot of us have, I'm sure.

Over the years I've been all the way from not having much & having to get really creative with what I'd give to having enough money to buy what I wanted without concern. What I learned was that the people that love you & that you love don't care about the monetary value of the gifts - it truly is the thought that counts. So catt...just let your creative juices flow so that you can think of something to give that will have special meaning to your family without stretching your budget.

In fact, maybe someone here in the group has some good ideas to share!

Almost done have 6 gifts to get to finish the great grands, everything they asked Santa for are out of stock!! same thing every year. Giving prepaid cash cards to sons, spouses grandkids this year, as finances are strained with most.

Thier are so many I'm going to have to do something different for the holidays soon, as I am retired. If I cannt spend so much on my fixed income, so be it..this is the last year I am drawing from my retirement stash!
