Where is everyone??? What are you reading? I'm deep into a book that rraayy recommended, SWORN TO SILENCE by Linda Castillo. Good suspenseful read! If serial killers discombobulate you don't bother to read!
Hello rapa, I am here and I am reading "Olive Kitteredge" by Elizabeth Strout. I'm halfway through and I am liking the story, but then I thought I would as it's been recommended by some good friends. Also, some readers here said it was pretty good too, so I can't go wrong.
Hi Rapa. I'm reading Thomas Pychon's '"Inherent Vice". Not typical Pychon at all, only about 400 pages for one thing. It's a detective story set in 1960's L.A. Haven't made up my mind if I like it or not. Only about a forth through it.
Reading John Irvings TWISTED RIVER and then on to Kate Jacobs FRIDAY NIGHT KNITTING CLUB, which I started as a audio cd but the cds were so scratched I am reading it this round.
I'm reading "Lethal Legacy" by Linda Fairstein. I like her books as they always have interesting facts about NY history. This time it's the NY Library, though at times there's too much detail and it gets a bit monotonous. Good book, though, overall.
Just finished re-reading both Still Life by Louise Penny and Promises in Death by J D Robb. Now I'm into Kindred by Robb & getting ready for my annual Christmas readings of my fav Christmas books. And I'll start the next L. Penny book - I'm reading them in order this time. mshadow22, I enjoy Fairstein too - I've never been to New York & find her descriptions really interesting.
No slump here just dealing with lots of house snafus, leaking windows, wet rugs, wet sheetrock,(thank goodness the library has been spared), a terminally ill dog and a broken collar bone. Just finished up "The Heartsong of Charging ELk", I give it an 85 on the Slopok scale. Enjoying a hot cup of latte this morning!
No slump here, just like mudqueen. This is why December is our off month from group reads, LOL! Just busy people around this time of year. :D
I'm working on our next group of Group Reads, and, like bopeep, am reading Louise Penny's Still Life again and loving it even more than I did the first time. On deck is Breathless
By the way, Ida, I sure hope things calm down for you.
I am reading the Last Days in Dogtown and enjoying. I have two books to pick up at the Library - The Bolter and the Hotel at the coner of Bitter and Sweet. I thnk those are the titles. Did Linda Fairstein start writing as Boston private investigator? Wasn't her first book about the Big Dig?
Since I just picked up The Golden City, by John Twelve Hawks, I am first re-reading the first 2 books in the series, Traveler, and Dark River. Good books, and a change of pace from my usual reads.
I'm reading Deep Blue Alibi by Paul Levine, the second Solomon & Lord book... if you like spicy, if you like sexy, if you like humorous and... if you can tolerate sleazy, you'll like it... but read Solomon & Lord first...
