We went all out and a bought one of those charlie brown trees being shown this year in Department stores. That completes our decorating for the season. Sometimes we also put out some stuffed snowman, santa's etc.
you know I must admit that I am so looking forward to NOT having a tree and all the trimmings this year. I am headed for a nice bond fire with good friends and a few visits with some family.
Yes, we put our tree up yesterday (artificial, pre-lit.) We have a Christmas Mickey Mouse in the window, too. I find that I'm cutting way back on decorations in the house because everything I put up has to be packed up and put away again in a few weeks and I get tired just thinking about it:)
Phil, I love that Charlie Brown tree. It's sooooo cute!
Rollingcurlers, it doesn't get any better than good friends and family.
Sigh...I wish we could have a Christmas tree. Unfortunately, money is so tight we can't even make rent, let alone get a tree. We have never had such a bad time, ever. No one wants to get their pianos tuned.
Sorry to vent. We are just stressed.
Planted my Christmas tree 5 years ago. I don't think it needs any decoration. It's lovely as is.

My son bought ours today. It's about 7-8 feet tall (hard to tell exactly since it's laying against the wall right now) and my 2 year old granddaughter is fascinated by it. She didn't want to touch it at first but after being shown that it was safe, she's gotten a lot more comfortable with it. She just told her dad, who just got home from work, "Yook! It's NeeNee's (that would be me) Cwismas Twee! It's for pwesents and yights!" Then she proceeded to open her arms wide and try and hug it. I love having the babies around at Christmas!
I have a wreath on my door and that's all of the decorating which will be done. I know I could probably put up a small tree but since it's just me, I don't have the motivation to do so. Maybe next year!
Would like to put up a tree but no room for one.
I'm with you, Disney, no room in my small place. i don't want to ignore the decorations, I'm afraid doing so would bring on a depression. However, I would like to have enough money to send PrisHaff to help her out. I'm so sorry to hear of your situation, Pris. I hope things get better for you real soon.
I was raised in the same tradition as a lot of people who celebrate Christmas, & have done things that way for most of my life. Always had a big tree & I collected unique ornaments, maybe half a dozen every year. There were always kids to think about, & it was fun.
I really liked the fragrance of the fresh trees that we cut.. until the year that an egg case hatched in the warmth of the house & we had to do away with all the BUGS that came crawling out everywhere!!! After that, I bought an artificial tree :-) I'm still debating whether it's more eco-friendly to use a real tree from a tree farm, or use the same artificial tree until it goes bald.
But over the years my life-views have changed, & my belief system is shifting as well. I wouldn't mind celebrating the Yule season in the original spirit in which it's meant, but I'm totally disenchanted with the 'traditional' Christmas that most people in this country are familiar with. My thoughts & feelings are elsewhere at this time of the year.
My younger son is welcome to put up the tree & decorate as much as he wants (there's an entire walk-in closet full of nothing but Christmas decorations) -- as long as he puts it all away, lol! My contribution will be to hang the wreath on the front door, put some lights on the front porch, & maybe the mailbox.
