Internet Passwords

Today's gripe is internet passwords. It seems that every site you join on the internet requires you to create a password. Since I initially got on the net I wanted to use the same password for everything to make my life easier. Great plans have a habit of falling through and having one password is no exception. While doing some shopping to sites I generally only frequent during holiday shopping I actually had to keep a list of my passwords because while my original password was great for me many sites thought it was not secure being I only wanted a 5 letter word. Wonderful, now I have about 50 different passwords, some with as few as six letters while others require a dozen letters, some with a mixture of numbers and letters and every site seems to have a different password....so much for my ease in use!

That's a very real and serious problem for me too the ast few years. I wish I kept a list...

I got a small address book and listed all my passwords alphabetically by the site. I started this a long time ago.

that's a good idea patti - what i've been doing is choose one long hard involved password and then add the iitials of whatever new site i'm on.

Good idea, whims! So far, I've had very little problems with passwords. And I only use a 6 letter word. I guess nobody else out there has thought to use it.

I keep a notebook by my comp as everyone has different requirements. Mostly stick to 3 different words that way in the future if one doesn't work try second or third.

I agree, keeping track of passwords and User ID's is a hassle. In addition to that most bank, CU and financial sites also make you recall oddball things from your family or past history, and type in some spooky looking phrase they put on the screen.......

I keep a listing in Microsoft Word under a generic sort of file name of all the passwords and User ID's

Hmmm, now what was the name of that file????

I use LASTPASS password manager. It's a Firefox add on. You can also set it up to fill out forms if you want.
