Small Contemporary Home

I have always liked homes that were different than the usual rectangle, Rooms or entry ways on a diagonal, rooms with angles that are a challenge to decorate, I also love homes where the decks are off open rooms with large french doors. I am not a big fan of sliding glass doors.
So it's not surprising I choose contemporary designs,

Living area1196 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 1/2 bath. Built on a slab or could add a basement. Why would you want to add a basement? Outside porch area is 628 sq ft as shown. Could easily be scaled down. I think 1196 sq ft is a good size for 2 people, especially with outside deck area.

What do you think of the angles? The entire home? How would you change it?
The big question..too big, too small?

poppyeli, our general guidelines for small are 1000 sq ft or less. We often have homes of much smaller size. Stay tuned!

One of our favorite things is to "tweek" the floorplans presented and say how they could be changed to make them work for you. If it is too large for your needs just jump in and say "I would take away the whole second bedroom" or whatever your preference is.

I like it!

Too big though.
When my whole family of 5 was around it would have been perfect.

I think they are stretching the eat in kitchen to call it a family room.

I especially like the curb appeal, terrace and mud room.

I like it. The outside is great and I love that mud room and 1/2 ba off the garage. I would turn that oddly angled BR into an office and make the kitchen eat in. The dining room is awkward for serving (even with the pass through) so with all the windows I would make a small sitting, reading area. Lastly, french doors instead of sliding door.

I like it a lot. I have never been in favor of giving cars their own little house, so I would turn that garage space into a great sewing/craft workshop for me. Excellent.

The rest of it is fine. I really like it.

Does it really need two full baths? In the main bath, get rid of the tub, and put an octagon shower stall in that unused area, and maybe gain some space for a corner linen closet in there for the towels at least. I see there is a linen closet in the hall, but that doesn't help when you have gathered up all the dirty towels and forgot to put out clean ones, and step out of the shower to find you have no towel.

I like it. It's cute and a good use of space. I would opt for the opening in that third bedroom and use it as an office. It wouldn't seem so isolated with only a partial wall.
