mopar,
I think its primarily a developer's tool.
In other words, unless you're a programmer, you probably don't need it.
But before you get rid of it, wait for another members input, 'k?

Thats what I gathered after Googeling it..will wait for more input before I delete it...:)
Adobe® AIR® is a cross-operating system runtime that lets developers combine HTML, Ajax, Adobe Flash®, and Adobe Flex® technologies to deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) on the desktop. AIR allows developers to use familiar tools such as Adobe Dreamweaver® CS3, Flex Builder™ 3, Flash CS3 Professional, or any text editor to build their applications and easily deliver a single application installer that works across operating systems.
I'm lucky to copy and paste so looks like it will go bye bye!
Adobe AIR
Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X
Adobe Reader 9.1.3
Adobe Reader 9.1.3_CPSID_49522

Unless you are a developer or are going to develop using Air as described by mywebalias, then no you do not need many of those.
Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3 is also a large program that you may not need.
So what do you do for those PDF files that you want to view?
Use Foxit Reader. Google it. It's smaller faster and its FREE.
If something came pre installed then you may not want to remove it. You could cease some functionality of your machine. There Probably will be no problem with your removing Acrobat reader although you should get a second opinion.
I do not know your setup.
Rita,
You don't "need" Adobe Reader, but you do need its functionality. It's what literally everyone uses to open and read '.pdf' files. If you want to use Foxit Reader instead, that would be fine. But you need one or the other in order to read those types of files. COmpatibility with the MSOffice applications like Word and Excel is a no-brainer for Adobe Reader, and it's universally used as a companion to them. I don't know if Foxit Reader is as completely compatible. But you may not even care about that!
Adobe Flash Player is somewhat a requirement, based on your browsing, graphics downloads, video viewing, and whether or not you (or someone else on your computer) plays video games.

If you have an external Twitter application like Tweetdeck or Seesmic desktop then you need Adobe AIR. There are other applications that use it too.
THANKS, I use Word and Excel so guess I'll just ditch Air.
Sorry to be so long getting back but DH has been in hospital.
THANKS, again.
