I think you and I are the only ones that read the Bible (smile) but maybe not. I am once again on revelations, and that is so facinateing to me... To some up your post.I read last night this qoat: We should be grateful and happy for the things that God has already provided". That really reached out and touched me, so many complaint about this and that and so few do not realize how fortuante we really are..Hey girl! God is good.
I too am a BIBLE reader...and try every day to BE CONTENT with the bread and shoes of my life. GOD daily is there to provide for us and in my own case, to keep me moving and doing when I may not always feel like it. HE truly is an AWESOME GOD, who DOES provide all our needs !
JOURNEY WITH GRATITUDE FOR ALL THINGS***
Not sure on this...
I believe that the desire to provide the best for our families, to work hard to achieve a better life is not a wrong thing.
FW
I agree FW that providing for families and a desire to achieve a better life are good things. What I think happens is that far too many of us get caught up in those and other good things and totaly forget our selves. Serving others can become so much of a job ( that has to be done ) that we forget God wants us to also enjoy our own lives. Excample the mother that gives a 110% + to each of her children - they grow up - leave - and she suddenly feels totaly empty and has no idea how to live the rest of their lives.

1 billion people on earth go to bed everyday hungry and many go to bed without shelter
True - yet if we don't take time to care for, stregenthen and renew our own bodies first - how can we be expected to strech out a helping hand to others?

you make a fine point jamryn but we need to be very aware of all people on this earth, IMO....as for me, my needs are very simple, so that I can give to others and I am aware of just how privileged I am to have food and shelter so I can pursue the higher meanings of life. I read recently that so many of the people that live in Afghanistan are now mentally ill from all of the affects of being at war for so long and so many of our troops come back that way...for myself, I consider myself a citizen of the world and what affects others, affects me...down to the smallest atom....may I be the change I expect to see in this world..Gandhi
I, like Pamela, AM a member of the World Community. The time when I could, honestly, feel pride in being a citizen of, The United States of America, is long past! That CONCEPT, is no longer viable to what this country is presently!
Furthermore, The World Community, has very little in common with it's present day leaders, and that includes all governing powers, everywhere. So why don't ALL we peons, worldwide, join together, and form all own HUGE, worldwide, "Commune(ity)"?!
Namaste
By the by, my needs are very simple, as well, and I would gladly share what I have, if I KNEW, that what I have to share would be spread out evenly amongst OUR World Commune!
I share the views of Pamela4 and Wisewolf. As we grow spiritually, we learn that we need very little ourselves because our heart is changed as we come in closer union with our Source. The more we are consumed, the less we need, because, in some miraculous way, we have all we need. It is a change in thinking, feeling, and knowing. Transformations occur all along the way that peel away our desires.
Being a part of our Source also unites us to all creation. Love is our food, shelter, clothing, and we are eager to share what we have with someone who is suffering from lack. This may seem an ideal, but it isn't about things, objects, or possessions. It is about the heart...what is in the heart. That is the treasury of grace and love and giving. We give from abundance, an abundance of love. For some reason we find than we disappear and all that is before us is the other. What wouldn't we give?
