A Christmas Wish List
I know we are adults but do you still get excited about Christmas?
Do you look forward to giving gifts or feel its more of an obligation?
How about a receiving presents? Are you comfortable receiving gifts?
I think most of us have spent our life time giving to others... this can make it easier to give than receive. But I realized just how much joy I was robbing others by not graciously receiving their gifts to me! Last year I made a conscious decision to receive better and this year I decided to even write a Christmas wish list!
Now, the fun part is, I will not share my wish list with anyone but Santa!
So if you were to make a Christmas Wish list...what would one item be on it?
Please make this a tangible item... we all want love and a happy safe holiday... so think of something personal you really want!
My husband and I stopped giving each other Christmas gifts almost as soon as we were married. It was so difficult for either of us to know what to get, because we each separately and together, always just bought whatever we wanted throughout the year. LOL
But let me see. For this year. Books. So a certificate to a local bookstore would be wonderful, even though I still buy books as the spirit moves me throughout the year.
Or a CD collection of Gregorian Chants.
I like Christmas but not the shopping abligation part, pain in butt and costly.
Don't mind it for the kids but really, adults?
And then there are those people who buy for you and then you have to go out and get for them.
No doing it this year.
Told everyone I am only buying for MY kids. And if you get for me, there will be nothing in return, plus you will make me feel bad.
I love the Christmas spirit, parties, lights, trees and gaiety. Love is in the air, grab all that you can!
I love Christmas, too. I have always been the one who made Christmas happen at our house: decorations, food, gifts, all of it. And I have always been the first one cut from the gift list ("Mom, there's not much money this year so I'm just buying for Dad and his wife---they will be mad if I don't...") so I have NO problem accepting gifts!
On my wish list? From him: a pair of earrings....And from anybody: the new Beatles Collection. Or really, anything that was picked out just for me, and wrapped, so I can tear it open!
Dear Santa,
I would like Photoshop CS4 ... and tuition to learn how to use it :)
Oh Barb...such a nice thing to want...Photoshop CS4 is cool!! You probably could take a class at your local community college to learn how to use it?
I get more excited 'giveing". I go hog-wild and give to many gifts out for Christmas. my kids always get 8-10 gifts each year.
My kids come up with unusual stuff for me on such occasions. (like for my last birthday when they took me on a road trip to see the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia; how many moms receive a haunted prison trip for a gift, I ask you..ha!) I also prefer giving any more because there is certainly nothing I need nor am dying to have...okay, maybe the Beatles collection as well! I always tell my family I would love a pizza and that's all I want. That way I get a break from cooking for a change and I enjoy that. I appreciate anything given to me and the spirit in which it is given but I prefer and have the most fun with the giving of gifts.

The Beatles collection! Hope you say it out loud so your Santa knows....Wow, now thats something cool to lust for and your birthday gift was cool too.
I love all the unusual things my daughter thinks up for me...her gift is always given with a full heart...the best and sweetest way to give:)
Its great that some ladies here, are actually thinking up things they want... my point in posting this message is to believe your worth giving to also...we, as women, tend to be the gift givers and it looks like all of you feel as I do about it....its fun and fulfilling to gift another and now that we have grandchildren , its even better!
But I hope this will be a year where YOUR cup over runneth with love, joy and even some special wished for Christmas gifts. Some of you have been running around with your cup half full for a very long time. Can't keep feeding the army with a cup half full?
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to think of receiving as well as giving this year, Starry!
Like many, I used to go nuts with the Christmas shopping, thinking I had it all done, but I wasn't satisfied and went overboard buying more, more, more for everyone. It is fun! And whenever someone would ask what I wanted, I couldn't come up with a dog gone thing. So this year I've had a chance to ask Santa for something ... even though I know I'll wind up getting it myself if I do get it, it's kinda fun to ask :)
Oh yes, I do want to take a class at Central Oregon Community College to learn Photoshop.
The great thing is, when I register as a student, I'll get 80% off the price of the program :}
