Yes, I went to a spiritualist church once where they ended the service by giving us all readings. I was told that I had an old friend that came by to say Hi. Was told that I would recognize him as he use to fequently give me a punch to my shoulder in jest. I recognized him instantly as he had passed away a few years back and when we were youngsters we used spend many hours together fishing. He would occasionally come up from behind me and punch me on the shoulder to get my attention.

I'm fortunate to have met an energy healer here in my own town (when he came to a yard sale :) and the first time I went to him for healing of a physical problem, I asked about a recently departed close friend. It took him a while to get her attention ... she was enjoying herself so much and she was so happy. She wasn't concerned with earthly matters she had left behind. In life, she had been very focused on her home and family to the point that she had limited herself severely in other ways; she didn't have much self-confidence though she was a talented artist, and suffered a lot of pain in the year before she died. It makes me very happy to know that she is now living in bliss :)
I never have had such an experience. I believe it is possible but I do not know anyone who can do this. I would love to talk to my parents and my sister and brothers. All have passed on. Also my dear love Bob.

Have you tried Google? I do know an excellent medium in California. I used her when I was visiting ( I am in the UK).
I have had several wonderful and accurate messages and it has helped me so much as I was having trouble dealing with my husbands death.

I have been a member of the greater boston church of spiritualism for the last 5 years, and have witnessed many people elated with the confirmation of life after death upon receiving messages from their loved ones. The so called dead not only can communicate through medium's, but prove that they retain their memories and personalities of their time on earth. My own first message was from a girlfriend who had died 2 or 3 years earlier. The description of her was so accurate; I have never forgotten that.
If you like being around other like-minded people, who don't think you're a bit crazy, you might try going to one of these churches. I guess each one might be a bit different, I've only had positive experiences myself.
Just come back from my group I go to. It is nice being with others you don't think you are a bit crazy.
