Southern California Christmas?

Hello SoCal Eon-ites -- So, if you celebrate Christmas, do you do the "traditional" cut tree? Live tree, which you replant? Artificial? Small, large, indoor, outdoor?

I live in a small condo, with a large patio. Every year I would put lights on my potted Japanese Black Pine and roll it over next to the electrical outlet. This year, I re-potted it and cannot move it over there. So I put the lights on my 3' Clementine Tangerine Tree. Unfortunately, it currently has tangerines on it, but hey, it looks real Southern California to me (and it's free)!

I use to decorate outside but now I only decorate inside the house. I get a live tree, decorate the fireplace mantle, the front window, and the table opposite the front door.

Sounds good to me...

I've run the gamut of tree-ness...live trees, lot trees, tree farm cut trees...

Finally I got a pink and sparkly pretend tree. A couple of years ago. About 4 ft. tall, it does the trick.

I do love the smell of a grand fir, tho...maybe next year?

While I love 'real' trees, I now have 2 artificial trees. Sort of an environmental thing. Where I live we don't have a green bin so any waste that should be composted just goes to a land fill. Not sure if my cousin would agree with me since he makes his living by raising and selling Christmas trees here in SoCal.

I haven't had a tree in years. I just enjoy others decors. Christmas looses it's alure after the kids grow up and leave.

I make my tree from wire and anything else that works. I had a blue tree with seashells for a few years. My sis wanted the traditional green and red so I made 3 different sizes put them together with red, green and gold and had it for a few years. I have had orange and lemon trees, cactus and so on. I always strive to have people come into my home and in stead of saying,'What a nice tree." go "OHHHHHHH!" Being normal is not me. I took this year off because my sis passed in August and I am still mourning. Next year, if I feel better, I believe I will be a live orange tree with orange and hot pink ornaments. What do you think?

Hi folks...First off, I never learned how to put lights around the house, so I'm continuing that tradition..no lights! lol. Second, I haven't had a tree for quite sometime...I used to wait until the 23 then go look for "charlie brown" Xmas trees...only 2 ft.hi. These days no trees. And I decorate with my Xmas cards that I get & they stay up all year around! All over my front door!
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

cheers

I grew up in Maine & NH, had many very "Norman Rockwell" Christmas times...
but that was then, & this is now ( in NorCal)...
and I don't do diddly, to tell ya truth!
My stepmother ( still alive and well in Maine) always sends me a very traditional wreath, from LL Bean.
I REALLY enjoy all the creative (and wacky!) things people do out here!!!
Some of which I posted on this web page:

Kudos to all those who do something *unique*!!
"Happy Holidaze" to one and all!
