Holiday Television Viewing

I just cannot imagine not seeing It's A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Not only is the message profound and heartwarming, but when the kids are dancing on the stage, each expressing themself in a way that works for them ... how do I not laugh out loud at the result and applaud every one of them for the effort?

I know it's animated, but having a son of my own....I know that the representation thereof isn't so far from the truth if only adults will let them be.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is certainly a classic--unfortunately most of my grandchildren have outgrown that type of Christmas tv special---but if I'm home when it's on it definitely will be on my tv....I also like Dickens "A Christmas Carol" and prefer the 1938 version...

Would that be the one with Reginald Owen as Scrooge and any number of Lockharts as supporting players?

I've seen many versions of A Christmas Carol and that is certainly my favorite.

Never mind. I just looked at my collection and it's tagged as black and white, 1938.

It wouldn't be Christmas without the original animated Frosty The Snowman special.

I love that one too, LLL. As well as It's a Wonderful Life but I've been missing that one now that they show it on Christmas Eve and that's when we have our family party.

Every year I hope to see "Twas the Night before Christmas" and the "Nativity" acted out by marionette puppets. Bell Telephone on the east cost hosted those 2 short animated films every year. I haven't seen them since 1969 when I left Pennsylvania. I would love to see them again. I don't believe they are shown back east anymore either.

I watch A Christmas Story every year. I also like Will Ferrel in Elf. Very silly but Ferrel is an excellent elf.
