I don't feed Beaudreaux a lot of people foods , but have to give the little fella a " treat " once in a while.
Usually a small piece of ham , or if someone brings a baked turkey to our get togethers he gets a small piece . I fry our turkey and its very seasoned , don't think that would be good for him.
My dogs eat pretty much anything that we do. But we eat a healthy balanced diet and the Vet says thats why our dogs seem to live longer than most other owners they have seen.
Jessie B. used to love carrots so that was a special treat for her. I must admit, we do sometimes give the dogs some of our food...how can you resist those little faces for long? We had a cockatiel who loved to eat ice cream from my husband's spoon. I'm sure we did it more than was good for him but his face while he ate it was too funny. Eyes glued forward & that little tongue going so fast.
there wasn't any left, poor things.
He sure knew there was something SPECIAL being cooked! TQ always hangs around the kitchen, but I guess the smells got him really excited. He sat up in his begging position at the oven for hours, even when no one else was in there, it was so funny. How could I NOT give him any when it came out? He also loved the pumpkin pie.
There were 3 dachsies and a beagle here for Thanksgiving. Of course I made a plate of turkey scraps for them and they did the doggie pinwheel thing when I set the plate on the floor.
We got just a small turkey so it was pretty much gone after dinner. Before throwing the bony remains away, I picked off all the residual meat and divided it up between the three girls. They loved it! Plus they got a few scraps off plates that weren't completel gone.
You gotta give 'em something or you get the dreaded Doxie Dirty Look! I wouldn't be surprised if they plotted revenge...I never wanted to find out so my girl was spoiled. She would actually stomp her foot & WOO WOO WOO WOO in a special way to let us know her displeasure!
Oh yes - you do not want to be on the receiving end of Doxie Dirty Look. They are very scary. :-) My little one gets a treat, but she is very patient. The one I have a problem with is the cat. Jeesh if Schotzee gets a bite before Inkee the cat - he gets in my face, meows, paws at me and looks at me like "Where's mine! Where's mine!"
