Hi Barb and everyone here. Yes, I'm sure most of us here ate too much and feel heavier than normal, but we have to enjoy while we can. : ))
Now, as for Dean Koontz, I only read one of his books years ago and it was very scary, so I've never read any more.
You ask, what's on our reading tables? Right now I am reading "Shanghai Girls," which I am enjoying. After that, I will read "Olive Kitteridge," which was highly recommended to me. I've also got "Eat, Pray,Love," which I bought for 39 cents at the Salvation Army last week. Love to go and browse through their books.!! Definitely cannot afford new books.
My best and worst reads for this year? I need to think about the worst read, but I already know my best read.
Oh yes, I'm waddling this a.m. for sure! You've got me curious about that Koontz. I've enjoyed the "Odd Thomas" series which I know don't grab you, Barb. But his others have been hit or miss for me.
Best/Worse - I just love when we do that! I'm like Jimsgarbo - I know the Best - Worst will take come pondering.
I'm visiting in El Paso with the daughter & her family & brought 3 books with me. I'm re-reading Louise Penny in order & just finished Still Life. Now I'm re-reading getting ready for "Kindred".
I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Kindred, bopeep, and I may be reading Louise Penny in order again, too, if I finish this Koontz before another one gets here, Breathless.... Actually I'd kind of like to start reading LP in order again...
I know my worst, and have it narrowed down to 2 for my best, at least so far... but you never know, I guess, LOL!
Okay as i rolled myself to the couch last night, i continued reading "The Heartsong of Charging Elk". Am most interesting read so far...It's a historical fiction based on an actual character..I think this is up Worldsowide's alley. Where do we post our best and worst reads for 2009? Can't believe how fast the year blew by!!!!
I am back to reading after a hiatus of a couple of days because of not feeling well enough to even hold a book or sit at a computer.
All the kids and grandkids came up north for Thanksgiving and I was hoping and praying none of them would get sick so they couldn't make it... well I forgot to add myself to that list. Anyway, I was banished to a corner and couldn't even approach the kitchen without getting in trouble so it was a pretty easy after dinner clean-up for me... lol I felt well enough to join everyone for dinner and now I'm hoping no one calls next week so say they are ill.
I've finished all my Joe Pickett books and have to wait til next year for the next edition. I started the Harry Bosch series last week and finished the first one but they were too technical for my tired eyes so I went to the Deep Blue Alibi which is the second bit of fluff in the Solomon & Lord series and an easy read for my tired brain.
It's good to be back among the living :-)

Read another hundred pages in THE HELP last night. Remember the '60s well. Lived in Baltimore which is home to a large black community. Am still in touch with the maid who worked for us when the children were growing up. Went to her family's weddings/funerals and visited in her home when occasion called. We still exchange pictures at Christmas. As for the book, I like Miss Skeeter!

Stayed home for Thanksgiving. We had our first snow this morning. UGH!!!!! Just finished "Last Known Address" by Theresa Schwegel. I believe it is one in a series by this author. Plan to read the first three as soon as I order them from the library. To be read in the near future, "Loving Frank" by Nancy Horan, and "The Devil's Punchbowl" by Greg Iles.
carci, glad you're back among the living! Hope your exile wasn't too horrible.
mudqueen, there will be a thread started January 1 for 2009's best and another for 2009's worst. :D
slopok, you are a better person than I am, concerning that book you promised your friend you'd read. ; - ) I'll be switching my profile picture to your fave soon... the comely tinkerbelle. LOL
Gosh, rapa, I can see why that book would be of great interest to you!
Barb, I do like the "traditionally built" Tink the best.
