On the question of plants causing diseases, it depends on what you call plants. Certainly, plants cause allergic reactions. Scotch Broom, anyone? When you reach back to fungi and algae, you find myriads of unpleasant things. And, then we have poisonous plants.

All in all, plants can be annoying as well as beautiful.
