My Name Is Ram

So, have you seen the commercial?

"My name is Ram, and my tank is full," the commercial keeps going (and going, and going) with stuff like "I am fueled by optimism, driven by passion and stopped by nothing," and "I am built to reward the doers who climb behind my wheel every day by working even harder than they do."

ok ... I seem to remember a bailout by the American people, necessary because the auto industry was in trouble ... If I remember correctly they were in financial trouble because they could not compete with foreign car makers ( some having plants in the U.S ) like Toyota and Honda. They could not compete because they were building vehicles no one wanted .... which brings us back to " My name is Ram " and if we need to we'll shove this truck down your throat!

Some people will always want to have a vehicle with a macho sounding name and a grille that looks like it would be appropriate on a tank. Very useful and intimidating-looking especially if you're a tailgating pig. However, that won't change the fact that Dodge sucks.

Ford forever, and ha ha Toyota for the biggest most costly recall in the Company's history! They were so busy trying to outdo Ford, GM, and Chrysler that they forgot about a few important detail like quality control and safety!
Toyota recalls four million cars

Toyota is to replace accelerator pedals on four million vehicles in the United States after fears they could catch on floor mats and cause an accident.

The Camry, the top-selling passenger car in America, and the Prius, the best-selling petrol-electric hybrid, are among those recalled.

Also included is the luxury Lexus ES350, the model involved in a fatal accident in California that focused public attention on the danger.

Toyota, the world's largest car maker, has told owners to remove the driver's side floor mats to prevent the accelerator from potentially becoming jammed.

The recall and extensive fix is the latest problem to confront the Japanese firm's sterling reputation for quality during a period of rapid growth, and it prompted top executives to push for improved quality controls.

A Toyota spokesman said the company was "very, very confident that we have addressed this issue." The recall only involves vehicles in North America.

It was prompted by a high-speed crash in August involving a 2009 Lexus ES350 that killed a California Highway Patrol officer and three members of his family near San Diego. The Lexus hit speeds exceeding 120 mph, struck another car, launched off an embankment, rolled several times and burst into flames.

A family member in it made a frantic emergency call moments before the crash, saying that the accelerator was stuck and the driver could not stop the car. The call ended as someone was overheard urging others to hold on and pray, followed by a woman's scream.

Investigators with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration determined that a rubber all-weather floor mat found in the wreckage was slightly longer than the mat that belonged in the vehicle, and could have snared or covered the accelerator pedal.

The US government has attributed at least five deaths and two injuries to floor mat-related unintended acceleration in the Toyota vehicles and has received reports of more than 100 incidents in which the accelerator may have become stuck.

doesn't anyone know how to place the transmission in neutral and hit the brakes?

FYI: we love our Ford Focus!

I've driven Toyota's since the early seventies and probably always will. Clearly though Ford learned what GM and Chrysler never did. Which is why they are selling more cars and the other two are selling fewer.

My favourite truck was a 95 Doge Cummins diesel.
But back then the ads weren't nearly as annoying

Your picture, Crawlinkingsnake, is of a pregnant roller skate.

You know, we don't have to give up size and power just change the fuel or propultion method. Hydrogen, electricity, natural gas, bio diesel are all opportunities for big vehicles and none require fossil fuels like petrolium.
