Hello

I signed up for this group a while ago and then I got side tracked, but I finally made it.
I used to do my own darkroom work. I even got a color darkroom to work. About 2 months after that we moved from New York to a suburb north of Boston. I set the whole thing up and then I had an idea. Can you put color chemicals into a septic system? You can't!. Boy I was happy when digital came out.
Here is one picture, near where I live now.

Nice picture. Is that Boston?

I had a darkroom for many years, both black and white and color. I never did process color film at home though, because it's too time and temperature critical, but I made color prints and I even tried some Cibachrome. Talk about toxic.

I enjoyed those days, but it's bittersweet. Digital is cleaner, cheaper and you can do it sitting down.

No. It is Lowell, which is north of Boston. In the old days Lowell was one of the richest cities in the country. It was the textile hub of the country. The canals provided the power for the Mills. It started going down after World War I. It is getting better now.

I've heard the name, but am unfamiliar with the East. Does it have a lot of these canals?

Interesing photo. I know Lowell,...but have never been to this area. At fist I thought it was Hamburg in Germany. They have alot of these channels inbetween industrial buildings. Now it's THE place to be, with cafes, fancy botiques and jazz bands. I bet they could do that with this area as well.

The link that Paddy gave was indeed interesting.

About 20 of the place names are the same as we have in the UK, but I was faintly amused to note the reference to Essex County and the town of Chelmsford. It's either a curious coincidence or the founders were from the UK. Over here, Chelmsford is the county town of The County of Essex!
