Climategate: final nail in the coffin

If you own any shares in alternative energy companies I should start dumping them NOW. The conspiracy behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming myth (aka AGW; aka ManBearPig) has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka CRU) and released 61 megabytes of confidential files onto the internet. (Hat tip: Watts Up With That)

When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest:

Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.

Absolutely - this is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated.

All of the pollutants that we spew into the atmosphere have to have a negative effect on all life on earth . However , from a geological perspective , we are in a relatively warm period within a much longer ice age , and the longer term trend is toward colder temperatures .

I've been reading a lot about this so-called Climategate -- very interesting. I truly could be the biggest scam in history. And right in the middle of it all is Al Gore and now our fearless leader Barak Obama who is going to Denmark to tell the world that we will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 17% in an attempt to get the rest of the world to follow suit and in an attempt to force our Senate to pass legislation that has stalled out. I find it appalling that the president would put pressure on our Senate by promising something to the world that he can't promise without the legislation that isn't going to be passed -- so he goes out there and tells the world we will reduce our emissions, and then the Senate will have to pass the legislation or we'll look like freaking idiots and liars --- my god, what have we done?!

As the President would say"

Not a hoax, not corruption. Merely a "side issue," a "right wing conspiracy."

And let's not rush to judgment ! Al Gore needs more billions and so does George Sorros.

In front of the Indiam PM and TV cameras, President Obama has the gull to say "much progress was achieved in China." TRANSLATION: not only he accomplished nothing, the Chinese grilled him on the shaky US financials, Obama had no guts to bring up civil rights in China and even his buddies at Saturday Night Live mocked him...

I guess his friends in Chicago believe him - the hoax about health care or cap and trade.

As I was researching climategate, I found some not too surprising information, such as the top greenhouse gas producing countries (per capita) are also top oil-producing companies. Also, China holds the tops position for greenhouse gases as a percentage of the total worldwide, but per capita they fall way down in the stats because they have so darn many people! So, it looks like we could easily reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by reducing our oil production -- of course, we'd become even more dependent on foreign oil, but gee we aren't promising the world to reduce our reliance on foreign oil!

Doesn't the garbage we spew into the air have an affect on breathing? Doesn't reducing our emissions just make sense for all of our offspring? Each little bit helps does it not? I like using wind, water and solar, it just makes sense and would help us to get rid of some of the foreign oil dependency.

I will keep investments in alt energies if not for myself than for the grandkids. If GE buys them up something is going on. If we don't use them there is still a big world out there. I figure these investments are safe.

Yes, I agree that reduction of emissions is a good thing, don't get me wrong. This thread isn't really about that, it's about reducing emissions to reverse climate change.

I like the idea of using wind, solar, geothermal, or anything other than the utility company -- right now I'm tied to the utility company, sadly!

CO2 and other blanketing gases like methane have been increasing rapidly especially since the dawn of the industrial revolution.
Very recently it has been reported that the global temp has dropped about 2 degreesmost likely because of the global recession.
If we ever have strong econmic growth again we had better keep trying to reduce those gases in our atmosphere.
It has been shown that trees grow faster in high CO2 atmospheres. Possibly trees and other plants have stepped up their absorption of CO2 !!!

Where was it reported that the recession caused a 2 degree drop in the global temperature? I'd like to read about that. Seems a bit unlikely in such a short timeframe to cause such a huge decrease in global temperature, but then again, I'm not a scientist.

This is an example of the type of "science" prevalent in the Global Warming debate. There is a recession, Global temperature drops, ergo the recession must have caused the drop in temperature. No mention of 60-70 year temperature cycles, no mention of 11 year solar cycles, no mention that the temperature drop started in 2002, while the DOW was climbing to 14000.
Yes the global temperature is dropping, just as it did from the 1930's til the 1950's. Invest in geese and ducks because it's going to get colder, projected drops will have all of us with extended heating seasons, and the chilibains. And today I am thankful for down bed socks, and microwave slippers, Happy Thanksgiving!!
