No, Jimmy, we aren't old farts. I watched on and off with my daughter and son and they were both disgusted by what went on for "entertainment." I saw Carrie Underwood do that same routine on the Country Music Awards and wasn't impressed then either. Lady Ga Ga was just beyond weird, and Black Eyed Peas proved again they are nothing special. I didn't see Adam Lambert but heard about it, and I'm glad I didn't have to see it. I purposely didn't watch when I heard Shakira was coming on because I saw her perform on Dancing With The Stars and was appalled.
Whitney Houston was the bright spot; she's a class act who role models self-respect along with her talent.
This was certainly Taylor Swift's year, wasn't it, at the CMA's and AMA's. I'm glad for her. I think she has talent and works hard. I hope she doesn't cave under all the pressure to get into drugs and other celebrity crap in the coming years.
I never watch those award shows. If that makes me an "old fart" than so be it. I am proud of it.
They pushed the envelope.Labert will not be allowed to perform on Good Morning America.I like some other parts were not my musical taste. But thats why we have a channel changer. I expected most of what I saw. As the country turns liberal a lot more comes with it. Elvis appald another generation.
as always
just ed
I don't watch those shows, never have.
Hope this isn't too off the subject, but I had our plumber guy install a new toilet seat a week or so ago in one of our bathrooms. For some reason, he chose to put in a self-lowering number -- both the seat and the lid, when they're raised, will, when given a nudge, lower themselves slowly and ever so deliberately to the down position. Is that cool, or what?
Last Saturday evening, I spent a couple of hours sitting on a comfy folding beach chair, Pernod in hand, watching that toilet seat lower itself, over and over again. Spookalicious, as Craig Ferguson might say.
It's life in the fast lane, babies.
Wurdguy - it's good to have a hobby!
I saw the American Music Awards and didn't like it either. What about JLO? she fell down on her butt.. OMG and I agree with you that the best was Whitney Houston...Adam Lambert was pathetic.. Oh well...
Thanks all... thankfully, we're not alone on this one! My wife hates the term, "old farts", I use it often... just to annoy her, I guess!
I watched Lambert's performance on Youtube. I didn't think it was such a big deal. Ho hum - We've seen it all so many times - just from women. I think it's more sensational because he's gay. Really, would there be as much fuss if it was Madonna up to her old (and I do mean old) tricks again? We'd say "ho hum" - been there, done that. It's a gimmick, and he doesn't need to resort to that stuff. He's young - what can you say?
Whitney Houston - well - I'll have to seek out the performance on Youtube. She still had that crack smoke voice on Oprah, though it did have a quality that's beyond vocal gymnastics. JLo fell down? Oops! :-D
And they made sure that Elvis was filmed from the waist up on the Ed Sullivan show. Oh my, how things have changed, I didn't watch the award show and glad that I didn't. No, we are not old farts, some things belong behind closed doors.
I watched. Was only impressed by a few. Lady Gaga and Adam were disgusting to me. Not enough country entertainers. Mostly the weirdos. I was an Elvis fan in the day so I don't want to sound like my parents. HAHA.
