Hope it is under Apple warranty. If not get on Ebay right away and get one with a few years of warranty on it. I have a 1/2 scratch right on the center on the iMac screen and only sometimes does it bother me. But not Apples fault.

TopB,
if your iMac is under warranty, get thee to an Apple Store and have the screen replaced. Sounds like you have a thing that on laptops is called an "inverter" going bad.
If it's not under warranty any more, and if you're willing to ship it to a place to fix it, try Other World Computing. www.macsales.com They're competitive, and you'll know the cost up front. They are excellent!
Also, try www.ifixit.com and see if anyone has instructions on how to replace a screen yourself.....
Get back to us, 'k?

Pond and PM1948..............
Thank you for the responses. Of course, I haven't a warranty....alas!
I am picking up on the references........hope to get some view that will not cost wildly.
My machine is about four years old......at 2 yrs and about $600, it was done over with a logic board replacement.......now this. Never had a monitor problem in 20 years of Macs but didn't always have a Mac monitor.
MY PC-lovin' son jeers.
