I am starting the book of Julia Child's Life - My Life in Paris. I saw that movie (Julie & Julia) and thought I'd like to know more about her...
BTW - it has been years since I read a biography. I am spoiled with the Biography channel on cable and lazy.
I am reading Shadow Country by Peter Mattheissen. It is a little awkward - it was originally a trilogy that he reworked into one big novel - but he knows the SW Florida coast and presents its strange, sad history well. I think it got the National Book Award partly as a lifetime acheivement award to Mattheissen, but that's OK. He deserves the recognition.
I haven't seen Julie and Julia, but I want to. Many years ago I worked in a cookware/hardware store in Julia and Paul Child's neighborhood. They would occasionally come in. She really was larger than life, big, loud and happy. And he just followed along smiling, wearing one of those greek fisherman caps. About half her size. A very memorable couple.
Ancestors Tale by R. Dawkins.
"Under the Dome" by Stephen King. Its a BIG book and I only have it on loan from the library for three weeks!
Right now I'm reading about the cash flow business. Not sure if it's something I'm going to try. I need to read and reread before i decide.
I didn't think there was a Stephen King that I hadn't read- I'll look for "Under the Dome." I'm always reading something, to help me turn off the brain at bed time. Right now it's "Compulsion" by Jonathan Kellerman.
I just read "Compulsion". I like the Kellerman books. "Under the Dome" was just published a couple of weeks ago. I am 2/3 way through but finding it a bit long and too drawn out.
Currently I have several books going, but mostly read online news sites and Eons' postings.
