Update on me

Hi everyone: I've been slack again in staying regularly involved. Its not easy with Fibro, Degenerative Disc Disease and Diabetes. I'm doing well over all. My doctor (at the advice of my Rheumatologist) is increasing my Lyrica from 100 mg 3x a day to 150 mg 3 times a day. My Rheumatologist also suggested 1000 UI (I think its UI) of Calcium pills a day and the same on Vitamin D pills. We live in Washington State where in the Winter especially we get rain a lot and snow as well.

My PCP (Primary Care Doctor) who I saw today advises I should take 2000 UI of each instead of 1000 a day. So I'll start. I've been under the weather this past week. First I had a surgical procedure on a tooth. The dentist had to make an incision in my gums near a tooth and pull them back to clean out bacterial infection, then put in a big filling. He said it was the deepest cavity he had ever seen . He took a bunch of clinical photos of it. Then he sewed it up.

So I've been taking amoxicillion all week. Then I had a mild flu Friday and Saturday. I'm still a bit under the weather but the flu is over. I think part of it is brain fog going on in the mornings and that constant aching all over flu or no flu.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Ken, you've really had it going on. Thank you for taking the time to check in. We do worry about our members. Just dental procedures throw me into a flare and it sounds like you had a doozy. (Your tooth photo may appear in dental journals...your tooth might be famous!)
Wishing you and yours a happy and blessed Thankgiving.

Has anyone else heard anything about the possibility of Lyrica being the cause of fibro fog getting worse? On 2 Yahoo groups this week there was discussion from different sets of folks about their doctors telling them that Lyrica was causing folks to have much worse fibro fog. I'm mainly asking because my sister's doctor recently increased her dosage and she is so 'foggy' that she forgets whole months - really, she forgets to pay a whole month's worth of bills, etc. Her husband tried to buy supplies for his construction business and she had forgotten to pay the credit card bill. Once he called and paid by phone, then he got his order filled; but that happened twice because she forgot to pay the bills. She called me a week after my birthday and apologized for forgetting my birthday; I explained that she and her husband had taken my family out to eat on my birthday. I had to tell where we went and what we ate, etc. I think she could have taken a lie detector test and passed; she truly didn't remember anything about it.

I took myself off Lyrica a few months ago, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed whether it has caused your fibro fog to be worse?

Hi Ken

Thanks for the update. We do think of everyone and wonder what is up. I take 2000 UI of vitamin D 3 and calcium everyday too. My sister(who knows everything!) told me to make sure it is vitamin D 3. I did start feeling better -to some degree- once I started taking it.
Hope your tooth is feeling better.
Have a good Thanksgiving.
