To Pete and all who give techincal support

Things You Do not Want To Hear from Tech Support:

"Do you have a sledgehammer or a brick handy?"

"So -- what are you wearing?"

"Duuuuuude! Bummer!""Looks like you're gonna need some new dilithium crystals, Cap'n."

Press 1 for Support. Press 2 if you're with '60 Minutes'. Press 3 if
you're with the FTC."

"We can fix this, but you're gonna need a butter knife, a roll of duct
tape, and a car battery."

"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."

"In layman's terms, we call that the Hindenburg Effect."

"Hold on a second... Mom! Timmy's hitting me!"

I just read last night baout the safest and most thorough way to make sure your old harddrive isn't peeked into by bad guys. It's called the "Double Pass Sledgehammer" approach.

Need we say more?

"Hold on a second... Mom! Timmy's hitting me!"

I actually had a neighbor kid fix something for me once, and he was just about that age. I had to wait until he got home from school to work on my computer. Sigh.

My favorite help desk question (TRUE and posted on an Compac FAQ) will always be:

"I keep getting these pop-up screens from Microsoft to press any key to continue. Where do I find the "ANY" key?

Bud Abbott (for those oldies who remember "Who's on First") at the help desk: "Any key"...made that one up, but it IS the answer, modified by "any key on your keyboard".

and the best ( worst ? ) one to hear from tech support is ...

" do you still have the original packing material? "

LOL Gary, I learned that lesson a few months ago. But now I have an attic full of boxes...Just in case!

My "Norm" is to "Slash and Dice" all packaging, before my wife sees all the experimental computer gadgets I "Buy-to-Try". BTW, most of them I give away---Shhh, she might be listening.

She's home today and I have 6 packages coming, including a new desktop...HELP!
