Could you tell me website of free virus software?

Hi--

This has perhaps been mentioned before, but I am now in need of either renewing my Norton subscription or going a different route. The desktop computer that this would be on is used very little for Internet use. However, I still need protection from virus, etc. (I have a laptop for my use on the Internet, e-mail, and Eons, etc.).

If you can direct me to the website of one that is free and one that others have found to work for them, I would be most appreciative.

BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I would use the free AVG. It is on the page in the above link.
I'm using the full version and it is very good.
If you do normal stuff the free version is probably good enough.
If you go to odd ball web sites, you might want to pay for the full deal.

I'm very impressed with free avast for home, I been using it since 2001, except for a short stink with Norton, and then AVG, with Avast you can have more than one computer, for free..

you can also use ad-aware (www.lavasoft.com)

comodo internet security (www.comodo.com)

and dont forget the firewall (www.zonealarm.com)

you can have lts f these on your computer but be careful about running some together...they conflict and lockup like mcafee and norton

superantispyware

spywareblaster

spybot search and destroy.

a firewall--zone alarm is ok.

and look around for some anti rootkit.

there are so many free ones now that it makes no sense to pay for some of the programs that charge and do a poor jb or ruin a decent program when they give you updates

Avira - the best of the free ones for Windows and Linux.
