This horse has been beat to death and dragged behind the truck before it was thrown under the bus....then shot.
Reform is needed...this crap Congress is trying to feed us as "reform' is a joke and sensible people see it as such.
They will be forced to do it over again before it ever gets to Obama's desk. And if it gets to Obama....he will take months to make a decision on it.IE: Afghanistan.
And once all is said and done...it will still be a joke and heads will roll over it.
Is 38% a majority ?
yes rgey have screwed this up in an amazing fashion. but by november my perfect form of government will be back so i do not worry nothing will be done. Pancho heads will role sine when have you seen accountability in government.

yichel, I think there is a lot of interest in what the elected representatives are doing...or not, more now than any time I remember.
There will be more voter "revolt" in the upcoming elections to reflect that interest and I think we will see the "heads roll" when they are not re-elected due to non-performance.
I could be wrong...but I really do not think I am. I only know I will not be voting for those I have in the past.
My opinion....nothing else.
"Not coincidentally, support for health care reform has also dropped to its lowest level ever. Just 38% of the public supports the Democrat's efforts to nationalize the health care system.'
Clarification: 38% support the attempt to nationalize Healthcare, leaving 56% oppose and 6% (perhaps) don't care. So Yichel, that 56% is a majority.
However the number One issue (42%) is still the Economy; reducing the deficit, cutting taxes, reduced government spending. Only 24% believe that Healthcare reform is the number One issue, and 61% believe that it will significantly increase the deficit and government spending.
The message should be very clear - STOP Spending.
The clarity of the message is not the problem here. The STOP Spending message is very clear. However, those for whom the message is intended are not interested in the message of the people. That is the real problem here!
I am not sure most of the people who support this bill realize that the tax part of the bill will go into effect immediately and the health care part of the bill will take 5 years. During that 5 years we can expect our heath coverage to deteriorate because corporations and insurance companies will start posturing them selves for the impact of the new health care system. People who now enjoy good health care coverage will see their plans either degraded or eliminated so their companies can avoid paying the high taxes on the "so called" Cadillac plans. I think a lot of people will be amazed that what they thought was just a normal plan, is now considered "Cadillac" and they will end up with either an inferior plan or none at all. I think the full impact of the 2000 + pages will start to reveal themselves as huge scam on the American people and instead of taking care of those who could not afford insurance, will just toss millions into the underinsured barrel - this will include about 20 million who now depend on Medicare Advantage. Thanks Obama (you will see more socialism come to fruition), Thanks AARP (you will be able to sell more policies for more profits), Thanks AMA (you are just worried about getting the bill that prevents the cuts to doctors fees under Medicare - screw the public.)

It is like Cape said in the subject of this post, "we elect our politicians to represent us". And as we all have come to realize, they only feel the need to represent us when they are looking for our vote. Somehow, we need to start making them represent us after the vote. I don't have a good answer as to how we go about doing it, I just recognize that it needs to get done.
And along the health care front, I just heard ealier this evening on the news that the perscription benefit bill that was ram rodded down our throat prior to 'W' leaving office has yet to be paid for. So that means the cost of that bill, losely estimated at 500 billion plus this health care spectacular currently being discussed, itself estimated at 900 billion (both rounded up) puts us on the hook for 1.3 trillion plus. And we are already at 12 trillion debt. And when you start to consider the coming balloning of the entitlement programs, SSN and medicaid/medicare, this is going to add up to a fair chunk of change. I don't see how any of this is going to get paid for easily.
A BIG problem with the Senate Bill is the
HUGE CORRUPTION
of which the Senators voting for seem to be not just fine with but indeed proud !
It seemed that Senator Landrieu received $ 100,000 MILLION of our taxes for her vote ($ 100,000 million for a single vote ).
But she proudly announced that she secured $ 300,000 MILLION.
OF OUR MONEY.
That is only the corruption before, just imagine the corruption afterwards. And after 5 years of paying taxes for this mess, before reaping the "benefits", we will all be locked in. They won't be able to rescind it, as the "I paid for it, now give it to me" mentality will kick in. We are buying a pig in a poke, and there are so many who just won't believe it.
