What Can We Expect This Week?
Thanksgiving week will kick off to a cold and wintry in the northern Rockies and northern Plains, while the East will be dealing with more rain. Sunshine will headline the forecast for the rest of the U.S.
The short work week will get off to a dreary start along the Atlantic coast. A pesky low pressure system that has kept the South socked in with rain this weekend will slowly crawl up the coast. This rain may hinder early travel plans from Florida northward to southern New England. A few storms in Florida could contain rumbles of thunder. High temperatures will range from the upper 40s in New England to the balmy 80s and 90s in Florida.
Another storm system could make travelling an issue from the upper Midwest to the central Plains. Rain will stretch from the western shores of Lake Superior to the central Plains. Further west, colder air will make for either icy or snowy roadways from the central High Plans and into the Intermountain West. Winds associated with this storm could howl as high as 30 mph. Although highs will reach into the 50s in the Upper Midwest, temperatures will struggle to get to 40 degrees from the northern Plains to the Rockies.
Another round of rain and snow will replace the storm that plagued the Pacific Northwest over the weekend. Rain will soak the Washington coast while the white stuff will blanket the higher elevations in the Interior Northwest. Highs will climb in to the 50s along the coast, but will quickly give away to 30s in the mountains.
The rest of the U.S. will deal with dry conditions today. Temperatures will hop into the 50s to near 60 degrees in the Great Lakes, while the 60s take a strong hold in the central and Mississippi Valleys. Warm temperatures will also dominate across the South, as 80 degree temperatures are expected from Texas to southern Arizona and southern California.
