November 22nd

I made special note of the anniversary of JFK's death. It was 46 years ago and still seems to have been much more recent for some reason. NatGeo channel is having a special tomorrow night with some film that supposedly has not been shown previously. That doesn't seem possible, but, nevertheless, that is what I read. I have watched countless hours on his life and death. There was also a nice story in the paper today about a former marine who worked with his unit at the White House in those days and some of his memories of JFK, the man. His unit was the one that was the honor guard as Kennedy laid in state. He recalled how he did mathematical problems in his head so that he would not breakdown or show emotion as he watched all pass by, especially the family.

GG, were you working in DC at that time? If so, you must have witnessed so much.

My lunch out yesterday sort of morphed into a shopping trip too. We went a great dollar store where everything was actually just a dollar and many of the items were not "junk". We had a couple of other stops too. I did get some Christmas shopping done. WooHoo! Oh, the last store did not remove one of those tags that makes a beep when you leave the store. There were several people exiting at the same time so no one did anything. I discovered it when I got home. I will need to return to the store to have it removed. That happened to me years ago, and when it was removed after a lot of trouble an ink spot was on the garment.

Have a great day, y'all. Don't overdo, Funforlee, your body was telling you to take it easy yesterday. I am listening to mine much more lately. Well, I have to as it is "screaming" at me.

I,too, have read much on the late JFK as well as seen all those films shown on t.v. Tomorrow night NatGeo program should be interesting with additional film.

Topazgram...pleased you had a good day shopping . I fear what might transpire on Black Friday( day after Thanksgiving).Remember what happened to a Walmart employee last year..he got trampled to death. From what all I've been reading, stores are doing much to prevent that sort of thing from occuring again.

1963: John F Kennedy is laid to rest
The funeral of the assassinated President, John F Kennedy, took place in Washington.

An estimated 800,000 Americans lined the streets to watch the coffin's procession from the Capitol, where the president's body had lain in state.

The crowd stood in silence, punctuated only by the sound of weeping, as the funeral procession made its way towards St Matthew's Cathedral in central Washington.

The coffin, draped with the Stars and Stripes, lay on a gun carriage drawn by six grey horses. A black riderless horse pranced along behind.

I remember hearing about the news in Texas the day it happened as I was getting ready for work in my apartment. One of the women that cleaned apts, after tenants moved out, came to my door and told me. She was crying and made the comment that Lincoln didn't free her, that JFK did.
