That's a favorite of mine too, Louise, course i like almost any Jimmy Stewart movie.
One of my favorite holiday films is "What's Cooking", about the Thanksgiving of four American families of varying ethnicities who live in LA. It was made by a British woman director/writer of East Indian descent named Gurinder Chadha. She also made 'Bend It Like Beckham' and 'Bride and Prejudice'. And in checking the spelling of her name at IMDb i learned that she has one in post production now called "It's a Wonderful Afterlife", will have to see that. i find her movies both poignant and humorous, and always feel good after watching one. My daughter enjoys them too.

Yeah, I like "It's a Wonderful Life". Like feywon, anything with Jimmy Stewart.
And the "Miracle On 34th Street" with Maureen O'Hara and John Payne.
My daughter watches A Christmas Story repeatedly. Bought her a framed poster this year. Found the leg lamp on ebay....too expensive.

Funny how the movies have changed over the years. The Grinch is no match to Jimmy Stewart in my childhood memories but for the kids? I wonder. Whole new traditions. An orange in a Christmas stocking was such a treat in my childhood and would mean nothing today.
One of my favorite holiday movies though remains Scrooged with Bill Murray. I can watch it a hundred times and there at the end when the little child who could not speak finally does brings tears to my eyes every single time.
"It's a wonderful Life" was certainly my favorite...but as an adult! Now, I have the ones that I loved watching with my Jake (my grandson)
I think my favorite was "Santa Claus" with Tim Allen....it was so good!
My spouse has the whole series of the Santa Claus with Tim Allen... I hate it, b/c it's so full of fantasy, but I do watch them with him... after all, he will watch LifeTime with me.... LOL
My Christmas must-see every year is to watch EVERY version of "A Christmas Carol" that airs. And it's got to be on TV ... no DVD's allowed.
And every year it seems, someone produces a new, contemporary version.
I gotta' watch that, too.
Some of the contemporary ones are better than others ... but NONE are as great as the Alastair Sim version (1951) ... still the "desert island choice!"
I'm giddy with anticipation!

Con't......I won't go to the theatre to see the new Disney version of "A Christmas Carol" with Jim Carrey.
I don't like that "half-human/half-animation" technique.
Kinda' creepy.
They used it in last year's "Polar Express" with Tom Hanks.

Oh man, I LOVE the Polar Express! Especially with surround sound? Fantastic. A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott was my favorite version.
