Christmas Memories

I watched two Hallmark Christmas movies today, and gave me some thought to Christmas past memories.
This is one of mine. I played the organ and would start practicing my Christmas music in November. Then on Christmas day at our house I would torture my family to listen to the music and make them sing along.

What is one of your favorite Christmas Past Memories?

The year we adopted Nathan. Christmas was complete. Sadly the big llug will now 1) object to church attendance 2) suggest pizza or Ramen noodles for the meal, maybe mac n cheese 3) and got his Christmas gift when his computer became illl and is not worth the ptice to look at a computer (much less fixx it). Hes at the cynical age re: all traditions, celebrations etc.

The year I found a Barbie Play House and new Barbies hidden in a closet in a bathroom in my parents house, and I would lock myself in there and secretly play with them. Then on Christmas morning, acting suprised when I awoke and saw them under the tree, and hearing my Mom say: "Oh don't act so suprised - you've been playing with them for weeks"...

Ha! Razz BUSTED!!!

For me it was the year a recieved my B.F. Goodrich bike. I couldn't ride it outside in the winter but when my parents were gone...I would ride it from the master bedroom...through the living room and through the kitchen....turn around ....through the kitchen....through the living room and through the master bedroom....turn around......well...you get the idea!!!! I always had to hold the bars in the middle so I wouldn't scrape my knuckles on the doorways.

I was playing my tower of bells long before christmas. My brothers played their claironets. We used to sit up on the big wardrobe and play with all our presents.

The best Christmas I remember was when I was like 5 years old on my parent's dairy farm near Watertown. We were dirt poor and my family had no money for gifts. As I believed in Santa Claus, my parents sent my older brother out around the farm to find something they could give to me from Santa. My brother came back with a rusty old spring that he found in the barn. Christmas morning I was so excited. I unwrapped that rusty old spring and I was the happiest kid in the world. To this day, it was the best Christmas gift I ever received. Even the least of things can be so valuable when you have nothing.

True story, Razz. I have often told my kids to never be afraid of losing everything they have. When one has nothing, one can be happier than when one has everything. It's so true!
