Alex Cross's Trial by James Patterson Pictures, Images and Photos
As a lawyer in Wahington, D.C., early in the 1900s, Ben Corbett fights against oppression and racism, risking his family and his life in the process. When President Theodore Roosevelt asks Ben to return to his hometown to investigate rumors of the resurgence of the Ku Klus Klan there, he cannot refuse.
When he arrive in Eudora, Mississippi, Ben meets the wise Abraham Cross and his beautiful daughter, Moody. Ben enlists their help, and the two Crosses introduce him to the hidden side of the idyllic Southern town, where lynchings have become commonplace. Ben aims to break the reign of terror -- but the truth of who is really behing it could break his heart.
Alex Cross's "Trial" is a gripping story of murder, love, and, above all, bravery.

This is an amazing author, although I have not been able to really appreciate what all the fuss is about, LOL. fantasticfiction has this list of his books, I have taken out the anthologies, etc., but it is still pretty impressive!

This book is written as Alex Cross as the author of "Trial." While reading "Trial" I realized this was very different than Patterson's other books that I have read, and I've read most of them. Smile Couldn't hardly put it down. There were times while reading "Trial" that I was in tears.

A small Mississippi town so full of prejudice against black people that many of the citizens lynched the blacks for trivial reasons . . . atleast in my estimation. How can people be filled with so much hate???
There was a trial against three white men [members of the Ku Klux Klan] that assaulted Abraham's home. Do you think they were found guilty? The ending regarding Teddy Roosevelt was a BIG surprise for me.

A book that looks inside a person's heart and I believe a book that most people would/should read. JMO

Last week I read "Virgin" and "Kiss the Girls". Felt James Patterson's writing was a little darker than I was in the mood for, but well-written. I will try another of his, probably "Trial" if it is on the shelves. Thanks for introducing me to him!

Patterson's books are real pageturners. I have read a lot of his books. I especially liked Cross Country - I think that's the one where he travels to Africa.
