Perfect timing Martlin! I need new slippers and am not in a postion to buy them. Thank you, Linda
The pattern is for kid slippers, but it is easy enough to enlarge to adult size once you have the idea of what to do.
Another alternative that I've used for slippers I make for Christmas gifts: use denim scraps. Go to the craft department & get some of that slick paint & use that to make dots or any design on the bottom when you're finished making the slippers.
The best way I've found is to cut two sets of denim in the slipper sole shape & fuse them together. I cut a layer of fleece & then sew the fleece to the inside & the fused denim to the outside. Sew them into the slippers, then spread a thin layer of paint on the denim sole & let it dry. Then make dots, squiggly lines or whatever strikes your fancy. For a college student, you could make these in the school colors & write the name of the college or university in slick paint on the bottom & surround it with squiggles, swirls or just dots. I made one pair of slippers out of a heart print & drew little hearts on the bottom in slick paint. It comes in lots of colors so you can color-coordinate it easily. Kids love it if you do the prep work on the slipper sole & then let them make their own designs in a coordinating color.
Great idea. What is slick paint? Is it like the paint you use on fabric that remains kind of like raised?
Yes, & it's got a glossy finish to it. It works great on the bottoms of slippers.
