I've got virtually all my presents bought and a lot of the food shopping in but will need more nearer the time. I've bought all the cards I'll need.
Just need to get a couple of smaller items and if I don't receive my Nephew's list in time then he knows he'll get money from everyone but I am trying to find something different but which I know he will like.

I have quite a reputation in our family for getting things off the net so it would be good to find something within the set price range that would be a surprise. He isn't very young so it's not too much of a problem to give money instead but I like to give people things to open at Christmas. I don't mind so much for Birthdays.

I will spend the day with my Mum looking after her as I live with her now but on Boxing Day which we celebrate over here on 26th December we will both be going round to my Brother's house where the whole family will meet up to exchange presents and have a buffet. I wasn't well last year and missed it.

Hopefully things will be better this year.

Owly1 - myhusband was British so I also celebrate Boxing Day and I like it as much or more than Christmas - it is all about friends and family. Nice tradition. I am buying gifts for friends right now. I have to go to the Zoo today and get a family pass for some friends I will spend Thanksgiving with - that is next Thursday. They have a young son and it will buy a few visits and days...good place to push a stroller.

I work on Thanksgiving - double time. My work with developmentally disabled adults will be a snap because most will be with family and I will only have a couple to take care of and we then can close up the house and go on an adventure to a park or to a movie or I can bring them home to play with the dogs I am taking care of for the holidays. I have family over the day after and this time it will be a little different because my mom now lives with me. I have the turkey and two ducks (need to thaw) and all the fixings already. My son and daughter and her boyfriend are coming. I know my mom will really enjoy it - to see everyone. It is going to be a little harder for me this year because my mom is very vocal on what she wants and how she wants it prepared. I have been making Thanksgiving dinner for her the last 8 years now and since she didn't live with me I did not have to listen to how she would do things - now I have to go for a walk to get away from that and that is exactly what I do. I am sure her attitude will change quickly - being around positive people makes her be more positive.
Happy Thanksgiving!

We generally have a family pitch-in. This year we are going to our daughter's house for lunch and my asignment is to make pies. Sugar Cream, Chocolate, and Lemon with an Apple pie thrown in. That is for Thursday.
I attended a board meeting for the Christian Love Help Center and our hot meal program has the Thanksgiving dinner this Tuesday and we are somewhere in the vacinity of 35 to 40 desserts short. I heard my voice volunteering to provide 3 or 4 pies and maybe a cake or two. I have a grand-daughter that likes to decorate cakes and she is scheduled come over tomorrow (Sunday) and take care of that chore for me. The hot meals program generally gives away 1400 meals each Thanksgiving. I am the "pot scrubber" over there every week.
It is going to be a short week for me.

All 4 girls will be here with spouses and our grandaughter(6months) Added in will be our youngest's boyfriend and his family. All together there will be 15 here for dinner. because the kids come in from across the state and get in late, I am doing most of the cooking. The boyfriends mom is also going to make some fo their traditional favorites. Friday friends will be here. Told them they have to bring their own blowup mattresses, ours will be occupied.
