A Separate Country - Hicks

I read The Widow of the South and loved it. I am trying hard to great through this book. It is good but it is hard reading - lots of words - does that make sense? Maybe this not the time for me to read this. I will return it and try again later.
It is wonderful and a big thick story. I do recommend it but say you need to be ready to read a book that demands your full attention.

Glad to see your post on this Lovesreading. I too enjoyed Widow of the South. So much so that my SIL & I went up to Franklin TN to see the house, museum, and most importantly the cemetery. Truly a terrific trip! Gotta love a book that spurs you to do that!

I saw where Hicks had this new book out & I wondered about it. The other reviews I saw were mixed.....I'll have to think on this one.

I know what you mean by lot's of words. I've tried to read'Peach Tree Street' over and over, but so many words, as you said, I just can't get into it. Sounded so good...
What is Widow of the South about, love, mistery, or?? sounds good too if you go by titles sometime.

Nel, Widow of the South is not a mystery. It takes place during the last of the Civil War during one of the most horific battles. The Widow turns her life's calling into caring for the wounded and giving dignity and a name to the dead.

Widow of the South is fiction, based on fact. As tnbopeep says the house, museum and cemetery actually exist. It was a wonderful read.
