A taste of things to come?

The National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality, a group appointed by The Department of Health and Human Services made it's new recommendations for breast cancer screenings this week.

Andi, one of the key points in this article amongst many is this one - "The U.S. Preventive Task Force is an outside independent panel of doctors and scientists who make recommendations. They do not set federal policy and they don't determine what services are covered by the federal government," she said.

You have to ask who the hell are these guys and who's paying for this bs? Unfortunately I can see insurance companies agreeing to this date - clearly Obamacare will use it to reduce costs. Hey whats a few lives lost - when the get for the greater good is gotten, I guess that this some more of that sharing stuff harped by Obamaland.

New recommendations for mammography have been discussed in another thread...

A concern to me are the new recommendations for pap smears and pelvic exams... In some instances this is the only time women are seen by doctors. view link

I missed that thread TS. Let's hope these new recommendations are not a sign of things to come.
Your link is a recommendation by private doctors. The Preventative Task Force is a government agency. I'm not thrilled with either report.
Can't hardly wait till they start on men's issues.

TS: A whole lot of us are worried about this type of thing...

I don't trust anyone in DC anymore.

If it hadn't been for regular exams, my ovarian cancer wouldn't have been discovered early enough to be curable.

TS is right about the regular exams often that is the only time a woman gets a full checkup. All of these new recommendations seem more about saving money than saving lives.

We saw the beginning of this a couple of years ago with the cutoff age for men for prostate exams. I'm convinced it's insurance companies who are behind these adjustments. It may save a few bucks in the short term, but it will cost a lot of money and lives in the long term.

According to Good Morning America the recommendation came from the Board of Obstetrics and Gynocology.
