meetooo....
will have to start with the obvious.
What version of OS X?
Can you dag/drop it to the card in Finder?
When you say the card shows up on the desktop, does that mean that it also shows up in Finder? (It probably does, but I just wanna make sure)
How is the card connected to the MBP? Is it still in a camera and is the camera connected via USB cable? Or, do you have a separate cord slot IN the MBP? Or, do you have a separate "card reader device" connected via a USB cable to the MSP?

I am running 10.6.2, Snow Leopard with the newest update. I am using a usb card reader. The card shows up in finder but I can't drag it there either. I can drag into Iphoto and can still move photos from the card to Iphoto through the same card reader.
meetoo,
can you open the card reader's contents in Finder? What happens when you left-click it in the left column in Finder, where all the other "DEVICES" are listed? Anything?
I have a USB Card reader that I got from Cables-to-Go, and it works fine that way.

Pete,
It shows up in finder and displays all of the pics but still won't let me add. Ok I just formatted the card in the camera again and now it works. Thanks for the help.

Steve - can you tell us what you mean by "formatted"? Photography's not my thing (I use my card for audio) so I don't know what you mean by formatting.
The reason I ask is that it might help another member down the road.
thanks!

I put the card in the camera and chose format on the menu just like on a computer.
ahhh, I see!
"Format" means the "format" of the picture you want to get at, like a ".jpg" or a ".png"?
I thought it meant "format a drive", as in "initialize it".
thanks!

Your thought was right Pete. It formats it like a HD and erases everything on it. It even has a low level format option.
meetoo,
thanks for clarifying. Sometimes I'm denser than at other times!
Here's a real dumb question: Did the formatting options that you were given on that little card have one that allowed you to format it and at the same time NOT lose the data on it? Is that what you meant by "low level format"?
Just curious.
thanks, and good morning!

No Pete, It is just like format on a computer. You lose everything. I believe a low level format writes 0's and 1's over the entire disk so that even a recovery program won't bring it back. By the way there some free programs online what will recover pics accidentally deleted from cards even if they have been reformatted. I know because it happened to me. A local camera store wanted $40 to get them back but a free program worked and I got them all back at full resolution.
