I was raised by wolfs so yes I have howled at the moon a few times.
as always
just ed
It's not what I say, but how I say it that makes me sound like my mom. People can't tell us apart on the phone many times. I also sometimes sound like either one of my dad's sisters.
hah! when I had children
I vowed to never say what came from my Mother
don't
or
you should know better
My very gentle Father would sit me down and explain
if I were wrong and ask what I was going to do about the situation
(he never was abusive mentally or physically)
I just gave my 3 daughters
"The Look"
which meant
1) .we can rethink what we did
2) .can have a dicussion about it
3) .go see your Father
they almost always chose 1 untill teenagers then they picked 2.....
they never picked 3 as he would hit, severely punish and or yell
Ah yes, The Look...my Grandpa perfected it & we stopped immediately. But then again, we knew what was coming next.
YES -- Occasionally I will say something, then stop and say to myself, "I sounded just like Mama!"
I met my father first time when I was thirteen, and I'm told I sound and somehow act like him. I didn't know him that well, and he was a mystery to me.
I'm civilized and quite dull. He, on the other hand, was a superb street fighter, and a man who beautiful women found attractive. About this I do not kid -- check out my mom's photo on my profile and you'll see what I'm saying. I didn't know the guy well at all, but I was perversely proud to have him as a father.
These days, I see members of his extended family during our summer vacation, and they find me fascinating in that I so strongly remind them of him. It secretly pleases me that I also make them just a little nervous. YES!
I hate that, saying something my mom says in exactly the same tone of voice. And so often things I dislike hearing her say! And my daughter does the same.
You know what they say, that what you dislike most in another person is what you do? How about doing what you most dislike?

Yes... Unfortunatley, I sometimes remind myself of my father in that I occasionally get "on a tear," and don't know when to shut up and let things lie... LOL
I bear little resemblence to my Mother in personality.

Certain sayings my parents used and I used on my daughter and now I catch her using them on her kids. It's amazing. When she does it she just laughs and says "now I know what it meant."
OMG I even look like my mother LOL
