that all depends.....on where we are going and what we are doing. If he wants to go on the motorcyle...jeans and t-shirt....maybe some chaps...yep that works for me. Clothes are not SO VERY important....but he has to be clean and smell good.
It does depend. A date to go kayaking or canoeing or biking is different than a nice dinner out. Clean and neat is appropriate. Of course, if you fall in the river while kayaking, clean is out the window. :)
I wouldn't want to date someone who lives in shorts/jeans and a t-shirt. Dress appropriate for the occasion.
While I think jeans are very comfortable and look good on most people, I think people in general have become entirely to casual about the way we dress when we go out. Dates use to be treated like a special ocassion. I enjoyed getting dressed up a bit to go out, but people no longer seem to do that.
As people retire, and start living on fixed incomes, many people have limited clothing budgets and may change their style of dressing for that reason.
NO NO NO..... clothes do not make a person, if someone does they need to read the millionaire next door.... being neat and clean doesnt have to do with clothes. Thats personal hygiene. And just because someone wears a suit doesnt make them successful it just makes them someone in a suit. You dont know what you getting... whats underneath that suit could be a ax murder or some guy that has one outfit a suit.
Sorry computer got stuck... It doesnt matter to me what the other person wears.... im dont see the outside of a man I want to see the inside. Most men that I know are Tee-shirt and jeans and are casual. But do clean up nice when going out to dinner -
Clothes don't make the person, but their choice indicates a lot. If one shows up in jeans and tennis shoes to go out for dinner at a 4-star restaurant and dancing later, I'd wonder about the person's sense of taste.
Dressing appropriately for the occasion would indicate a sense of taste. it's just common sense to wear sports clothes for outdoor activities and dress accordingly for others. Tennis shoes to go dancing? The guy is not going to cut a smooth path across the dance floor.
One exception. If a guy shows up wearing a baseball hat on backwards, I'll pass on being seen in public with him.
They better or they aren't going out with me.
No, the clothes don't make the person, the person makes the clothes. How a person dresses can really reveal a lot about their character and values.
They often say you should dress for success. Certainly one would want to dress appropriately for the occasion, regardless.
I agree with whycertainly, and to use his phrase of dress for success, that could mean in so many different ways...success in pleasing your date, in fitting in with others who may be there, in letting your date know you know how to dress for all occasions....
Clothes do not make a person, but can define a person.
