I have a lot of pet stories, but this is one of my favorites. I fostered Kelly for Austin Sheltie Rescue - we thought she was a sheltie when she was taken into rescue - and she only weighed 15 lbs when I first got her - she was still a puppy - still had some baby teeth - but she grew and grew and grew - Kelly is a collie according to two of my friends that are licensed AKC collie judges - and she tips the scales at about 65 lbs now that she is full grown. (The top picture is Kelly talking things over with one of my pom puppies)
Kelly is a very gentle girl, and gets along beautifully with my tiny pomeranians.. She was always in awe of my grumpy old pom, Little Man - a pom rescue - weighing in at a mighty 4 lbs. Kelly and Little Man always got along - but one night several months ago, I was watching TV, when Kelly ran through the living room, squealing as loud as she could.
I don't know what she had done, but Little Man had grabbed onto the end of her tail and was hanging on for dear life! Kelly ran out the doggy door and Little Man strutted back into the living room as if to say " Well, I sure taught her a lesson!!"
Little Man went to the bridge several months ago - he had an eye injury that required surgery - and when the anesthesia was started, his heart stopped. They worked on him for over 30 minutes to no avail. I will always miss Little Man - he won the heart of everyone that met him - even Kelly Collie.
The last picture is Little Man - he loved that dog bed, but couldn't see well enough to get off of the bed - he'd stand there and bark until I came rescued him.
