I know how ya feel brew. I saw something today that just beat it all to hell. House next to where I was working has Halloween decorations still in the front yard, right along with Christmas stuff up and lighted!!!
Gimme a break, whatever happened to waiting till at least Thanksgiving weekend to START decorating for Christmas?
Bah..Humbug...I aint got no decorations nor even a tree. I got tired trying to disentangle xmas lights.

They say that Christmas is for kids and YES, I do still believe in Santa!
I like Christmas and all the lights. When the earth's light goes out at 5 pm this time of year, the decorations take over for a month. Even the smallest amount of time spent by a homeowner to brighten up their house and yard makes me smile.
Now that I am alone, I sometimes think "why bother". But then I look at the decorations I do put out and it is less depressing.

i too am a grinch, bah humbug and all that. xmass with out kids around is no fun.
Don't get me wrong, I love decorating for Christmas more than any other holiday of the year, but even I don't start till Thanksgiving weekend.
I think what brew, and I, were trying to point out is lately it seems they are pushing Christmas before the Thanksgiving holiday even gets here. Too much commercialism. The stores are putting out Christmas stuff right along with Halloween and Thanksgiving.
It's taking some of the wonder and awe of Christmas away.
I agree, do it up right with the decorations and lights, just not in Oct. or early Nov.
I am not a grinch at all - I put up with that as a child as my father made it so miserable for us at Christmas Time No Tree just a "{Charlie Brown table Top My mother got for us) and the one time my older sister went to the nearby gas station to buy a tree and bring it home on her sled (she even put it up and paid with it with her babysitting money) he(my father) got mad and threw the tree across the room ornaments and all and once again DESTROYED Christmas again.........so.........you can be grinches all you want that's your option but personally I LOVE CHRISTMAS (or the spirit thereof) and decorate and enjoy THE CHRISTMAS SEASON.We need to have some FUN and Merriment In Our LIVES! Our outside decorations are up already (due to the fact that we have had mild weather and it is much easier by not freezing our..... off) We don't turn the lights on until Thanksgiving Nite and YES I WILL DO A DRUM ROLL like the Griswolds........And I still believe in Santa (the Spirit) So for those of you who do not like Christmas May the Spirits of Christmas Past Present and Future Visit you sometime! JFKRJK You are invited to our Home This Christmas!!!!!!!!
PS: It's up to you how you feel about Christmas.....and yes the stores seem to push Christmas and Commercialism but Christmas doesn't have to be this way.............Frankly all too soon it is over and WE NEED A LITTLE CHRISTMAS NOW! There is So much Negativity lately that it is no wonder why so many people are depressed........
bah humbug...............in downtown Yonkers the lights and streets have decorations out .. just makes me cringe..........and that started after Halloween........it seems that its pushed into our faces in tv commercials, stores, ect, ect, ect.. I think I'll be the Grinch and take all of their toys.... lol
If I could afford to decorate outside--or even was able to install outside decorations I'd have them up and burning! I love the Christmas lights---and I believe HometownGirl is right--it's people trying to find some enjoyment in this ol' life.....
