I grew up in Cordele and graduated from high school there. Then I went to VoTech training at Americus and studied machine shop. I helped Lockheed build airplanes in Marietta for awhile in the 60s. Then I served 30 years in the Army. I went through primary flight school at (guess where) Fort Stewart.

My family is now centered up around a cattle farm in southern Tennessee, but I would like to be a member of your group.

When I worked at Lockheed, I lived near Powder Springs. My family originated from Irish immigrants who came to Dooly County in the early 1800s. Most of my relatives still live in Georgia. Many of them moved to Porterdale and Covington in the 1930s to work in the cotton mills. The cotton mills are gone now, but several families are still there.

Welcome aboard KC good to have another CAAG group member over here. As I'm sure you know, us Georgia folk are friendly and enjoy talking about our great state. My family was sawmill people but we had some that got into the cotton mills too.

Hi, Pasron. One of my high school classmates , Lee Clements, runs a hardwood mill in Abbeville.
Cypress lumber is one of his favorites.

I guess it's safe to say Welcome Aboard! The last time I jumped in to welcome someone to a group before the Manager or Moderator made it official, I got in trouble. Lesson learned.

I live in Gwinnett County and have recently discovered some of the wonderful places TN offers for getting away. I took a condo on Lake Holiday in Cookeville and used it as a base to explore all the waterfalls I could in the many, many state and national parks in that area. It was a wonderful, relaxing week that I would repeat except I think there is a lot more to discover in your state, too. My avatar pic is just one of the photos I took in that area.

Again, welcome to the group.
